I have a young dog off lippers law that will run a coon like crazy but just will not get deep enough on his own as of now he is pretty dang young yet. Have never hunted him with another dog. Should I hunt him with another one or not? This male is just turned a year.

You need to find a farm to let that dog run loose on, should have a buddy or two with him, they will be bolder and will start treeing sooner, If not, get them in a coon pen as soon a possible. Third get a rolling cage and pick up one of Uncle John's Books on training, start working him at the tree asap, (The sooner the better) Pull that rolling cage up in a big tree, bigger the better, and if he is not interested let it down to him till he gets interested. If this does not work call John Wick and see if he can help.(He takes calls all the time and helps out on training problems.) If all this does not seen to help him call the breeder and demand your money back..

Are you walk hunting him? If so try to find a place where you can drop him and just sit on the tailgate and wait him out. Just ignore him if he doesn't go. He should get bored of you after awhile and go hunting.

What bloodline of female is he out of ? I been around a lot of dogs out of law they are like a lot of the lipper dogs I hunted back in the day they are a lot on the ground till they get tired enough to tree. They bred a female out of my old Deacon dog to law she was a treeeeee dog and that cross produced the worst ground pounders you ever seen one minute they would be 900 yrds this way then shut up and be 900 yrds the other way you got to hunt them hard to get the best out of them.

I drop him and he goes 300 yards on his own but I'll be honest I've hunted this dog twice he will turn out in time. The mother is out of Childers gunsmoke. Have been taking him to run loose in woods during day he will tree. Only been out twice at night. Goes hunting better second night than first. Opens on a cold track before struggled to run it kind of. He's got a lot of go power and even more intelligence. Will update y'all in a couple months from now he will be turning the crank pretty good. Quite a mouth on this guy as well.
