When a dog has a bad ear infection will they lose their nose some like they can't smell as good or won't hunt??

If I have a dog that quits treeing I check his ears first thing,this comes from an experience with an outstanding hound.

hunting a dog with ear infection can lead to bad habits like not barking on tree and chewing .
