Pup drinking a lot of water?

I have a 8 month old female pup that is drinking a 5 gallon bucket of water a day? Has anyone seen this or know what this means?
Thanks

Pup....

You sure there is not a small leak in bottom of bucket somewhere ?
Seems like one couldn't drink that much ?

good suggestion there!
But, if that dog was a older dog I would say kidney problems. usually that does not happen with an 8 month old dog

I have 13 month old female that would drink 2 gallons a day, get hot doing almost nothing her crap smelled horrible no matter what kind of feed. Took the advice from joey on here and put her on a raw diet. Took a little while for her to adjust but after 4 weeks completely different. Before she couldn't pass a water hole now a havnt seen drink one time while hunting and maybe drinks a half qt during the day

Don't matter what age the dog is, Lepto will cause kidney failure.

One gallon of water weighs 8.34 lbs. Your pup drinks 41.7 lbs of water a day? WOW!

Either a leak or spillage of water. It's not possible to drink that much water.

get the pup checked at vet. I had one that drank about 3 gallons a day every day for months and died of kidney failure. Dont know what caused the kidney failure, but Lymes will lead to kidney failure

Yes that is a lot of water. Have her examined by a good veterinarian and get some blood work done to rule out Cushings disease, kidney disease ,and early diabetes or infection. Diabetes would be rare in a pup like this but not impossible. I'd also put another 5 gallon pale outside the kennel and see how much is from evaporation too.
