A Master of Hounds point of Veiw

Saturday Night I was Master of Hounds at a hunt that had a cast that had a big blow up at the end between two handlers that turned out bad I sat the 4 handlers down listened to all there stories I wanted to make the right decision so I got all 4 numbers and told them I wanted to talk to somebody else to get there opnion before I made a decision.I also wanted to talk to them again before I made a ruling. When I got up sunday morning it was all over the internet and I got thrown under the Bus by people that was not even there the whole story was not told oniy what they wanted to tell but everybody had there opinion on what they would do.I could have stayed at home with my family and not sat in a club house for 5 or 6 hours by myself.I get call all the time wanting me to do hunts for them because nobody wants to do them.My challenge to them is all the people on the internet that want to pass judgement get your UKC Master of Hounds Lic. and set on the other side of the fence since you know everything thanks for reading.

I am a master of hounds also and I feel your pain. Nobody realizes the sacrifices that we make just so they can hunt. With low turnouts at the hunts, most clubs can only offer you gas money or a plate of food, so we do this for the love of the sport. Like you said you could have been spending time with your family, hunting your dog in a hunt, or pleasure hunting but you donated your time and people don't appreciate it. Most people want to be arm chair quarterbacks and tell you what you should have done but don't want to step up to the plate and help out and social media has turned into one of the biggest problems with the hunts. If things don't go their way, they want to jump on the internet and run somebody down. It is a bad situation and I don't have a solution but keep your head up and remember that Jesus was perfect and people talked about Him so you know that me and you don't stand a chance.

I also understand what you are talking about. I know nothing about the situation that you had. That said I see only one problem, you should have made a ruling, right or wrong (hopefully right). With a ruling made the cast members would be able to request a hearing if they opposed your ruling.

Most people tend to forget that what they see on the interweb is only one person's view. And when you talk to 4 people on a cast, you usually get 4 different stories. Sometimes it is like they weren't even on the same cast. Giving your opinion on the interweb is just way too easy. Maybe we shouldn't answer nite hunt questions until both sides have posted their "version" of what happened.

Crap like that is why i kept putting off getting back into hunting. When I quit, it was a whole different breed of hunters had started showing up. They didn't know the rules but trashed the MOH or hunt director when they didn't get their way. It's just the world we live in now and I know how cliché that sounds but it's the ME ME ME mentality. Now we have the keyboard to hide behind and say things we would never say to ones face. You don't fix my problem now and I'll take it to the Internet. That seems to be the way people want to handle stuff now. I don't agree with trashing a club, director, MOH, or organization online even if something is done wrong. It doesn't look good on the sport.

Catfish, I don't know who all was involved but they better not be trashing the MOH in my presence. I know what kind of guy the MOH is. I may be a little biased since he practically raised me during my teenage years but I ain't hearing all that bashing without setting them straight.

Mike your a good guy but you should have made your decision right then and there .I realize there are times when the rules don't clearly tell you what to do and sometimes you may make a mistake but do what you think is right and it will all be ok, shame on those that hammered you someday they will need your help.

Sir

Did you ever make a decision after conversing with someone else? I was interested in the outcome of it.

Can't the entire cast just be scratched in this situation.
