Were not looking to do a big campaign on a stud dog. Just looking to get a nice female or 2 bred for a pup back over the next couple years.

Duke goes hunting well alone or with company. Will tree close to the truck or go deep if need be. Has no trouble running with the pack on a hot coon, but will get by himself a high percentage of the time. When hunted by himself hes a fairly accurate dog, when turned loose with company he is very competative and looks to get treed and will miss from time to time. Runs track with bawl mouth. Big bawl locates and rolls over to a hard, loud, steady chop. He is a treedog and when he rolls it over right he is there to stay and frieght train wont move him. Treed his 1st coon on his own just shy of 6 months old. He is far from perfect but has been an action packed hound thats made something happen everytime hes been turned loose.

I got him started here when he was young and have hunted him when i can, but have to give all credit to his titles to friend, partner and handler Ken Kinnear. Hes put on alota miles and wore out boots and a truck beatn the bush with this hound to get him to where he is.

Also must give credit to mr. Bill Hubbard for crossing 2 coondogs that come from generations of reproducing coondogs.

Have 1 litter on the ground out of Dave Huttons Whitey female(gaugeŚmempis). They are not 6 months yet and the one we kept has been a natural so far and treed a couple lead coons already. The rest that have been messed with so far was getting good reports last we herd blowin up a cage coon at a very young age

Living in ontario canada we are certainly not in a convenient area for breeding. But if anyone was interested in breeding, and it was the right kind of female, we would be willing to work together with them to do what it takes to make it happen.

Thanks for reading.

If your looking for a coondog to breed to I recommend Duke, I didn't breed to him because Luke and I are friends I bred to him because of what I saw out of Duke!
Brains, sensibility, the desire and ability to tree a coon regardless of going on around him with a huge mouth to cover the distance along with a pedigree of coon dogs that reproduced coon dogs!
I'm very happy with the puppies I raised from him.
Time will tell all but I'm sure liking what I see from his pups!

Thanks for the comments guys. As I said he ain't perfect. He's won some and lost some, but always been a contender to the end.

Dave, thanks for bringing Whitey to him. She's a top notch gyp in my books. We have high hopes for ours. So far so good but time will tell if it works.

Luke thank you for allowing me to breed to Duke, I always said I wouldnt breed a dog if I wouldn't one like them and I sure would be tickled to death to get one just like Duke.
Check him out guys we don't just have hockey players in Canada!LOL

Congrats Ken and Luke

Glad to hear you guys got Duke finished to Grandnite.I have had to hunt with this hound in Canada as well in the states at some hunts.Duke is a tough well rounded hound as you said in your post.I would be up for a pup from a Duke and Freds Ruby cross one day.

One of the most down to earth and honest stud dog posts I have ever read. Congrats on your accomplishments with your hound!

Bob
Great to hear from ya. Ya never know what will happen if Fred chooses to go to Duke with Ruby, but I feel there strengths and weaknesses should compliment each other well. Time will tell. Lookin forward to huntin together this fall, be it in a cedar swamp up here or climbin them darn hills with you guys down there. Either way we always have a blast.

Mr. Sheppard,
Thanks for the nice comments. You've accomplished some great things with your hounds and that means a lot to us coming from you.

Good video Luke, boys that is the way you will find Duke when you walk into his tree, and has been good about having his coon when I've hunted with him.
Duke is the real deal and Luke and Ken are great guys. you folks with nice females should check Duke out.

Congrats on finishing Duke into Grand. He is a nice looking and sounding hound.
Just a little information on that litter.
Most of the ones from this litter made good hounds. They started early and were balanced.
The best young hound of my life was from this litter and was killed on the road at 17 months.
I have a Nite Ch. here which I call Toby He is another nice one from this litter.
I feel Duke will reproduce some nice hounds for you. If you like breeding to a stud which came from a cross that most of the litter was nice hounds, don't over look Duke.
Luke, best of luck with him. He sure looks good and sounds nice.

Thanks Bill. Like I said Kenny deserves all the credit for the titles. He's beat the bush and run up and down the hi ways and him and Duke have made a great team. Time will tell how he reproduces. We've got a male here now off him that I'm working with that's showing a lot of the right stuff at 6 months old. High hopes for him. Glad to hear you got Toby back. Would like to see him go. If all works out we'll be down to Freds sometime this fall. Maybe we can get together for a hunt.

Great to hear from you.

We like ours plenty Dave. In just a small handful of times to the woods he's been very natural. If I ever get a few minutes between travelin and work i will get some video downloaded on here. He's got me a little pumped and this season it's gona be alota alone time with me, him and the ruger. Fingers crossed he keeps progressing and nothin happens to him.
