Todd has addressed this before. Its pretty much a don't ask, don't tell kind of thing. As long as it's legal.

If you have a legal carry permit then you are allowed to carry.

I don't have. A problem with nor does it say anywhere that a legal licence carry permit holder cannot carry I know folks are gona say this and that but in today's world and hounds that hunt hard and fast and less land to hunt and more drugs I would want someone to be carrYing not to show off but for a just in case situation

The UKC policy states "Absolutely no alcoholic beverages, FIREARMS or illegal drugs will be allowed on the grounds or while PARTICIPATING in a UKC licensed event". It doesn't matter if you have a conceal carry permit or not, the policy says a firearm is not allowed. That policy would be the same as any business not allowing you into the building with a firearm. Why would a person need to carry a gun on a comp hunt? That's what everybody needs is to have a mad property owner come out and you pull a gun on him on his property.

Wrong. Per Todd Kellam. You can legally carry a pistol at hunt.

United Kennel Club respects, defends and even encourages your right to lawful concealed carry. We have no restrictions towards lawful concealed carry. Our no guns policy is primarily directed towards 1) gun trading on the grounds during an event 2) open carry on casts 3) unlawful carry at any time 4) to a lesser degree having rifles in vehicles on a cast. We don't go so far as to search trucks but would take action against illegal transport because it could jeopardize the issue of state permits to conduct nite hunts.

Once again, as usual, as typical...UKC speaks with a forked tongue. The words "absolutely no" generally means none, as in zero, zero chance...unless you're dealing with UKC then it could mean that...or maybe not, but we'll get back to ya'.......
Don't get me wrong, I love guns and I am a pro gun, pro carry person, but I am extremely anti-confusion and confusion seems to be UKC's business model these days.

I guess this means you can have a cooler full of beer in your truck since that's a legal product sold in every state as long as you drink it in your truck. What I quoted came straight out of the UKC rule book, so I guess the alcohol and illegal drug policy doesn't mean anything as stated in the rulebook.

I think the point of "no fire arms allowed" is so hunts don't turn into gun swap meets,it basically cover ukc's hind end for liability cases... Can u imagine what would happen if someone "got a gun " Ata ukc hunt and shot up a "soft target"??

Wow, since when has it been legal to "drink in your truck"?.. and you said it first... ILLEGAL DRUGS.. does that mean pain killers for those hunters prescibed them???..... The laws for Carry Conceal... Is rigorous. Background check as far back as 18 years old.
If the club itself has a no gun policy on the door, then ,no, you cannot carry according to the law. That no firearm policy is exactly what Allen says, not to interfere with state laws governing night hunts. Not even a night hunt during kill season are you supposed to carry a gun during a night hunt, normally used to kill coon. How many if you on here right now, complaining, have left a .22 rifle in your dog box storage and went to a hunt.
I doubt seriously a 9mm... 40mm.......38, ... would be used for that. Give me a break. You should have a right to defend yourself against the fear of death anywhere. As far as I know, only 1 bank does not allow carry conceal inside... Yeah, only I around here. You never know when your life could be in danger.

This shouldn't even be a conversation because any responsible concealed carrier is never gonna be known to others anyway. If you allow your concealed carry weapon to be seen by others, you're probably to irresponsible to be carrying in the first place. Keep your weapon concealed like its suppose to be and this question never comes up.

I've never walked around so afraid of anybody or anything that I had to carry a pistol. I've always said the sure sign of a coward is the man that has to carry a gun to the grocery store. I own plenty of guns including pistols I use for hunting, so don't start saying I'm anti gun.

I have always concealed to carry on a cast. As a female I am not going off with a group of strangers especially all men without one. I carry everywhere basically because the world is an unsafe place. Granted I have nevered had to use it but, it's like insurance it's there if I need it.

Anyone or anything? Go into a pot field and let's see how fast you run...lol... It go to the hood.. and walk into a store with bars on the windows at midnite... These are extremes, but you started it with anyone or anything....criminals carry Friday night specials... Have one pointed at you, your wife, girlfriend, son, daughter... And say you have no fear.... And make us BELIEVE you are not afraid. I doubt you can make me believe it.
And JIM is right, it only needs to be seen when needed.

So you choose to go unarmed, fine, your choice and I sure got no problem with your choice. But then you go on to belittle and describe as "cowards" anyone who makes a different choice. That tells me all I heed to know about you as a person.

Nobody likes, enjoys and even works on guns more than me. I have an extensive collection of American doubles that is worth more than most peoples houses, so to say I am just pro-gun is a serious understatement. That said, I believe it is very important that we as gun owners respect both the law as well as policies that certain entities set. How you deal with those policies is up to you, a good example is when the big box stores have "No guns allowed" signs I turn around and walk away. If they feel that way they don't get my business.
UKC has a written, simple unambiguous policy or rule right on the scorecard. They use in that policy some pretty strong words, "absolutely no....." That's what that means to me. You cant do it.
Along comes an employee, who decides to publicly on the companies forum change or alter the policy to suit himself. This opens UKC to some possibly pretty heavy duty liability if the issue ever makes it into a court of law. UKC could find themselves in an indefensible position.
I think Mr. Kellam might have realized that he made a mistake later as he later does some back peddling but is still trying to save face:

quote:

________________________________________

In what way did I "tell you how to get around it"? I said nobody can open carry during an event and nobody can illegally carry, meaning concealed if you are not authorized. I think that pretty much covers it. No I don't think we should get rid of the rule which would then allow anyone and everyone to carry a pistol on their light belt during a nite hunt. I think that would be a bad thing. Just my opinion.

Post dated 7-25-2013 08:51 am

We know exactly what you said Mr, Kellam....the question is; either those words "absolutely no..." mean exactly that or they do not, which is it???? If a crime is committed in a place that has a "no-guns" policy, such as this one, the local law enforcement officer {states or district attorney} can chose to ask for a stiffer penalty, more jail time or higher fines.
I have seen too many times how issues like this play out with UKC..."absolutely no" translates to "maybe if you want to" by some employee, but you can believe when it hits a court room UKC will try to stand by that "absolutely no" and leave us all hanging.
If I was Mr. Kellam's boss he would have been looking for another job back in 2013. Maybe this has been addressed/corrected at a later date, but it appears an updated official stance from UKC is in order. The scorecard still echoes those words "no" but it sounds like any and everyone that goes to a UKC event wanting to carry carries a gun.

Its not about being scared, afraid or anything like that. Its about being prepared for if or when something should happen. To many things going on in this world not to be prepared to protect my family or myself. I often wonder why people that have the means of protection dont do it.

Harleydan1956, you have repeatedly quoted "Allen" {Gingerich???} in this thread, is there any way you can maybe copy and paste what he is saying??? I cant find it anywhere. The one thread you told someone else to look at was not Allen, it was Todd Kellam. Thanks, just want to be clear....

There is something wrong or otherwise missing with this link sir....here is what I get out of it:

"No thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the webmaster"

You had said previously:

"This post is in Off Topic.. close to the top. Who carries a handgun..."

Maybe go back and take a quick look...it doesn't appear that Allen {I guess you mean Gingerich????} ever posted anything.
