What's everyone using and thinks is the best tick prevention. I'm using frontline, but have heard from some if doesn't work well.

I've been selling a lot of Simparica and Seresto. They're both working well.

Purple python cattle tags. Do not get the Magnums.I have not found a tick or flea on any of my dogs since I began using them.
And for the people that say not to use them because they are for cows.Look up spectra shield tags for dogs. They have the exact same ingredient.
The difference is Spectra Shield sells three sizes. The one for 50 lb dogs is within a couple grams as the cattle tag.

Frontline works okay, but it must burn the dogs skin or something??? My dogs absolutely hate it. If they even see me with any kind of little white object in my hand they all run in their boxes and hide and will not come out until after I am gone. Even the house dogs hate it.
I also have to wonder what it might do to a dogs sense of smell, having poison fumes strong enough to keep ticks and fleas away for one month.

.

What I have found and can't tell you why. One product works great once or twice then doesn't do as good the next time. I had some incredibly positive results with Spectra Shield a few years ago on some Yorkies that got flea infested. About the third tag change out they seemed not to work. I can't explain it.

Because the size is larger than the regular one and it may cause allergic reaction as too much of the active ingredient would be on the dog.
As you see they are almost double the equivalent the ones for a large dog.

Python Magnum size ...........15.2 grams
Python regular size...............9.5 grams
________________________________
For comparison
The Spectra Shield Medallion sold for dogs

14- 29 lb dog size..................4 gram
30- 55 lb size........................6 gram
56 lb and over size.................8 gram

I recommend anyone wanting to use one to read the usage on the Spectra Shield web site.
They are not recommended for use on pups under 6 months of age.

I've had good success with Permethrin working well on dogs for ticks, mosquitos, etc. Seems highly effective and it is extremely cheap if you don't buy it packaged under a name brand tick treatment for dogs.
