Sure he will be fine , next time take it to the middle of a field around some good timber. Last one I turned out was given to me by a neighbor turned it loose and she came after me it is funny now but I was not laughing at the time.

i made the mistake of turning him loose right by a scrap yard hahaha so he didn't run to the woods just under all the stuff there and i never found him but i did notice my pup is now actually searching for coon and knows what he's looking for though just now i gotta catch another one and have him tree it and i'll have to be more careful about where i release it at and thanks for the advice i'm gonna do that instead of where i released it haha

Only advice I can give you is not to turn too many loose to him. I would do one more and see if he trees it and knock it out to him and that would be his last.

You need to set it up to where a tree is the only place of refuge. Find a pasture or something to where there are only a few trees and cut it loose. I would do it one more time in daylight so he sees it go up. And then once after that in the dark. Note: Soak the coon with water and make sure its dripping wet before you turn it loose. That way the hound has to use its nose to track the strong scent before treeing it. if he trees it be sure to knock it out. After that, get him in the woods.
