Is this true??????

Last night at a local hunt I was told that UKC just implemented a new rule that every cast has to maintain 3 voting members for the entire hunt. True or false?

False. Every hunt has a scorecard and every scorecard has the rules on it. So I'm wondering what that person would have done if you flipped the card over and said "Show me."

Thanks Jim. That what I thought. I called BS on it. It wasn't just one person. It was the whole club even the MOH. The MOH even reprimanded one judge for finishing a cast with 2 voting members remaining even though he didn't announce such a change before the hunt.

You really should email Allen or call him Monday morning and give him the who, what, when and where of it all. I'm sure he would contact the MOH and bring him up to date on this rule.

That is an AKC rule, not UKC.

It does seem the MOH has some bad information. Please give Allen a call at UKC and inform him of the details and the MOH. If you don't want to give the MOH name, just give Allen the hunt date and club number. The MOH info can be obtained off the hunt report. Its not trying to get an MOH in trouble, but to help him/her be up to date on all current rules and policies. Its important for the sport and should be to the MOH. Mistakes are made, and unless there is a file a mile long on that particular MOH, it will be a letter informing them of the rule/policy they mistook. Its called checks and balances.

Thanks in advance.

Actually there was a big long thread about this subject on Face Book recently, but it had to do with PKC rules, not UKC.

PKC changes overnight, depending on who and how much you spend in some areas

Went to 2 hunts in the past couple weeks. One was a UKC hunt with just north of 25 ebtries and the other a PKC with right at 20. The PKC hunt did not have a single question or argument. The UKC had cards thrown out, people arguing over past hunts a couple questions and people making 6 to 8 drops in 50 minutes by calling timeouts if their dogs didnt strike in patch woods all for a yellow slip and dust collector. Other KC rules are fairly cut and dry but UKC falls into how John, Bill and Frank interpret them with their buddies at their local club. Its a joke anymore to even get a win on a dog in UKC. There are clubs a man can go to with UKC and hunt single dog cast with a buddy as the judge and get them an easy win all over. At least within the other KC you are required to have a minimum of a 3 dog cast to hunt.

Both hunts had good entries, sure wish we had that kind of participation around here
The last UKC I entered in had 6 dogs, no ? or scratches, 2 cast winners with + points
The last _ _ C, I entered had 3 dogs, No ? or scratches, no coon seen, but we listened to 1 dog run nearly all night guess which dog won the $$

Not to divert from the original thread but last year I was at a hunt and the MOH was telling everyone trying to enter if they didn't have a written permission slip from the owner they weren't going to be allowed to enter..... LOL

Imagine you showing up to a hunt and being told this and having to argue with a MOH just to be able to hunt.

It was a rule years ago. You also had to wait until UKC sent your champion degree back before you could enter as a NT CH. Its alot more user friendly now.

Exactly, years ago. And we expect when we have a serious ? back at the club this is the guy who will be ruling on it?
