There are tons a different methods and everyone has there personal preferences on different things, such as bedding, feed, meds, location and etc. And all dogs are different. I personally, feed my 2 hounds Purina dog chow and they seem to love it. Just built them both off the ground kennels with cedar chips in their boxes and heated pads (they are spoiled) but its all in hoping to improve the goo filled eyes and skin allergies etc. Im currently dealing with the eye issue on both, one has what i think is a hot spot on his back leg near foot, and the youngest has a scabbed over deal on his back hip. For those of you that have multiple hounds, what kinds of things do you prefer. And i dont mean just feed i mean meds for heart worms, tape, ring, eyes, hot spots, fleas, ticks etc .Do you give them certain things each month, every so many months? Basically what I am asking is what is your set up. The whole 9 yards to keep your hounds healthy.

I've always kept my hounds on a concrete pad with a doghouse that I keep fresh cedar chips in. Keep the concrete clean and I've never had any health issues with my hounds.

What do you use as far as fleas/ticks, and worms etc?

I have always felt that any kind of heated doghouse is bad for hounds. Pulling a dog out of a heated house in the winter and putting them in a cold dog box to haul to the woods has gotta be a shock to their system. Dogs arent like humans, a waterproof windproof doghouse with deceht bedding is very adequate for an out door hound. For worms I use .5 cc of ivermec mixed with 3 cc of strongid monthly year around. Bravecta for fleas and ticks.
My dogs love Purina Dog Chow but it doesnt seem to keep them up very well in winter. Right now im feeding level 4 Native. Seems like good feed.

I keep mine on concrete also and believe it is one of the single biggest things you can do for their health. The reason i say that is because before i switched to concrete i had more problems with their health, not a lot but still a problem here and there. I have had mine on concrete for the last 15 years and can tell a world of difference. I clean the runs daily and bleach them once a week and that seems to work well. I do not put any bedding in their houses unless we have a cold spell. I live in southeast Texas and its always hot, even in winter. I used ivomec and stringed for several years with excellent results. These days i just use Hartguard Plus for heart worms. I give it to them every month. I use Nexgard for fleas and ticks also once a month.Between the concrete and Nexgard i have absolutely zero flea and tick problems. For feed i use Pro Plan. I have four walkers and they all get Pro Plan Sport. I have a 16 year old border collie that lives in the house and he gets Pro Plan Bright Minds, it is suppose to be for older dogs and after switching him to it a year ago i am sold on it. You could see little differences in him. I also have or i should say my daughter has a Doberman that lives inside also he gets Pro Plan Savor and does well on it. I only have six dogs so its not that bad, if i had a kennel full of dogs like a lot of people there is no way i could afford to do it the way i do. I will say that i do not have very many health problems with what i am doing now. So i would say it works for me. Also the Border Collie will be 17 in May. I bought him as a puppy and have his papers so I'm positive about his age. Most people can not believe he is that old.

Concrete kennels diamond extreme athlete dog food good straw in boxes ivomectin one a month for heart worm preventative and bravect one pill every 3 months for fleas and ticks preventative ! Flush ears evry other month are so and clean kennels daily Clorox good in spring and fall hose down daily !! Never had any real health issues with any !! I ask a lot of them least I can do is make sure they have good food clean dry bedding and also they are under a covered building with wind blocker on front and fans.in thE ceiling for when it gets over 100 ! Good luck
