What's the biggest tract or blocks you hunt? I hunt some very large deer clubs that are around 5,000 acres give or take. Of course the majority of it is pine thickets and cut overs but we do have some creeks and hardwood runs in there we tree a coon in from time to time. Also have a huge tract of public land no very far from home, I don't hunt it much and actually none at all lately but do plan to make it a couple of nights before the season is over. My better spots are on some of the smallest tracts I have permission to hunt. Creek bottoms surrounded by hardwoods and lots of agriculture. Its roughly a 500-600 acre tract but I've only got hunting rights to about 200 of it. I've tried twice now to get permission with no luck the first time I ask about just being able to retrieve dogs the second time and was still told no. I keep feeder buckets out on the parts that I can hunt in hopes of keeping coons close and having shorter races and not getting into a pissing contest with someone that doesn't want me on their land

14 to 17 miles wide and 21 miles long, there's one road that goes 8 miles into the south end but it's still a long walk into the middle of it.

Wild cat, I hunt eastern NC, mostly Weyerhauser land so I know what you mean. Most places I can drive with in a half mile of the dogs.

I have 14,000 acres in one club and 17,000 in another. And a lot more besides that but I am lazy and hunt the one 15 minutes away.

LBL, 160,000 acres part of it is in Tennessee and part in Kentucky.

Does anyone else on here hunt LBL?

The biggest block I hunt regularly is 5 miles long by 2 miles deep. You can safely double that in distance because of the hills. That is plenty big enough for me. Lol

Me and my hunting buddy had the bright idea to camp out at LBL last year and coon hunt. thinking there had to be coons there we stayed 4 nights and never made a tree. We was both hunting pups but still. Had a great time though beautiful country

Most of our hunting has been ruined.. close to home 10-15 woods is a nice one! We drive a hour or so north and get into some 50-60 acre woods or some public ground that's a couple thousand acres..

I hunted the LBL in 1988 when I was stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky. There didn't seem to be a lot of coon where I hunted back then but the woods were big and pretty. One night I lost my Gr Nt female in there and ask the Park Ranger if I could drive on the closed roads to see if I could find her. He said yes but is your truck a four wheel drive? I told him it was but he didn't ask what kind. I had just bought a new Isuzu Pup 4x4 and they didn't set very high but it proved to me that night that it would go places that I didn't think it would. It was bright red but by the time I pulled into a car wash after daylight you couldn't see a bit of red on it. lol.

In the flats or lower elevation, none. In the mountains, lots of Ponderosa Pines over 50 ft. tall. The boys treed one up there yesterday morning and it was so steep that they could not get within 250 of the tree on the same elevation. They climbed around above and shot video of the lion in the tree and then called the dogs off.
You will notice that is something that I train these dogs to do...you need to be able to call them off the tree. I think that you saw that in the coon hunt we aired last season. I shot video of the dogs treeing a young tom in early December and I think that we shot video of the dogs being called off the tree.
