Yagi antenna and Garmin?

I seen a guy a few months ago using one with his garmin at the truck. He said it works good. My question is what frequency is the Garmin and what antenna is needed.

.

Garmin is 150 to 155. A Yagi Antenna for that frequency is kind of large in my opinion. If your near your truck one of those long truck antennas for about $50 works just as well.
If your on a horse and going into back country then the Yagi would probably be your best bet for distance.

.

If you know anybody that's into ham radio you could build your own antenna it is not hard at all to tune and antenna.

I build my own antennas for my radios and if I thought I would get much use out of a truck mounted antenna I would build one I just don't I think I would use it that often

yagi

The guy had his garmin connected to the old yagi antenna while he was standing by his truck. I didn't even know it was possible to even connect a garmin to a yagi. Garmin frequency is 150 to 155?

The frequency determines the size of the antenna. The Yagi in the garmin tanga is to big when I can do just as good with smaller antennas
