Most Costly Possum you ever treed?

With all this talk about BIG coons, I got to thinking "What is the most costly possum you ever treed? I personally had a cast won that would advance me to the next round of the SS one year and when Ol Cylde fell treed off to himself and they applied the stationary I proudly treed him. I think you know the rest......

Don't hunt many big events but has cost me some on local levels.

I guess we are the only two to ever tree them in hunts.

Possum

I would say the first one they ever treed. Ain't stopped yet. Lol.

But then again, I only have mediocre pleasure hounds.

Although mine will tree them I can't Remember one costing much except small local hunts. However I had a slick cost $4000 dollars at tn pro hunt 2 years ago. That's a nightmare that still haunts me.

Possum

$10,000.00 that's what a possum cost Darrell/BPplus a World Championship. Right or wrong decision made that was a very expensive possum in anyone's book. Sorry Darrell for mentioning this, but I knew someone would. You know how I feel about this matter. Dave

Ky state hunt, all 3 dogs struck in the first 2 minutes. My old female treed in the first 5 minutes. Pulled the other 2 dogs to her. First possum she has ever treed right by her lonesome. We all went pleasure hunting afterwards

Years ago, it was the year that the World Hunt was at LaGrange, the year Scar won i guess,, I entered my old Jeff dog in the Super Slam event. He had 800+, and was the only dog left in the cast. My brother was handling and cut him in a spot that we hunted more than any other other and I plumbing forgot about the housecat that hung around there. Jeff went in there and slammed that dang cat about 80 yards from the cast. With only about 6 minutes left to hunt, i was praying my brother wouldn't tree him but he did. $850 down the drain right the under that dang cat.

Maybe 6 or 7 years ago at walker days we were 40 minutes into the hunt and i was over 400 + when my dog came by us with something in her mouth i was asked what she had i figured she caught a coon so i ran her down and it was a grinner i was a long way from winning anything at that point in the hunt but she was starting to get me fired up up till then i never worried about a occasional grinner since then ive taken a different approach i dont hardly ever comp hunt but it will get you when you want it the least

Possum troubles

National Bluetick Days... 2003? Was winning the Nitech cast with 850 plus 0 minus with about 10 min left. Last drop My little gyp got struck right off the lead for 100 rolled in 100 yards and absolutely dropped the hammer.... I put her on the card 125 halfway through her locate.... I just knew I had a cast win of over a grand at a National event...... she had the meat alright..... she "took out" a few other "future Grandnights" that backed her on it .

You are the man! Gotta love this reply-no she does not owe you a thing or does anyone else's dog owe them something. Men let their ego make it hard for their dogs to live up to more times than not. Good reply and your dogs certainly looked really good this past year. Happy hunting and go get them again this year. You and Doc make those red dogs stand out. Dave

Ol Possum Dog. LOL

Last year at Western English Days. Twenty minutes gone after cutting loose on Friday night and not a bark. All of the sudden, dogs come tree. It's a grinner!! Back to the club house.

This year at Western English Days. Saturday night. Cut the dogs, about 3 or 4 minutes of silence and then the most beautiful locate in the world about 150 yrds out from my dog and then treeing like nobody's business. He gets help from another dog. Walk into a grinner. Back to Arkansas. LOL

Went to club hunt the following weekend. Got a first and first on a coon. Cut again, my dog went left, the others went right and grabbed a grinner. My 'Ol Possum dog was 550 yrds the other way treed alone. I won and finished him to grandnite.

Dogs will be dogs.

I knew Yours has more sting then most, The cost of it..... Its priceless, Not just the 10K, but the title slipping away. I really figured yours went without saying or replying. These other less known ones were the ones I was asking about. Im glad you can kinda joke about it now tho. Good luck in the future and maybe you can get back to the final 4 again.

National Bluetick days around 2011? Nt Ch female had 350+ with an hour left to hunt. Closest thing to us had 100+. She caught a possum on the ground and carried it to me and dropped it on the ground at my feet! Guess she thought the cast needed a snack. High scoring NT CH that night was 425+
