I have a female that has this. And I she definitely not the dog she was before she contracted it. I would like a pup from her. But my question is because of the stress level that a female goes through having pups. Has anyone that has a female with it raised a litter of pups? with out any complication? Did you do anything special to try and prevent any complications?

Mine had/has it. You are right, they can do well but they just aren't the same dog. Thay can have/raise pups with no problem but you can't give Doxy while they are pregnant or nursing. It interferes with the absorption rate of calcium.

Has anybody else had any experience with breeding females that have showed signs and been diagnosed with tick borne illnesses. More specific to my current situation is talking about bitches that have been diagnosed positive with lymes, went through the symptoms and symptoms were resolved through treatment before breeding was considered. Anybody have any insight that has been through this first hand. It seems like when vets discuss these concerns their views vary quite a bit from one to the other.

My female showed signs and was diagnosed. 1 week into treatment with Doxy she came in heat 2 weeks in I bred her. 3 weeks in I stopped the Doxy. She raised 8 healthy pups with no problems. As soon as the pups were weaned, I restarted the Doxy and gave it for 3 weeks. She got over the Erlichia but it was a couple of years before she was back 100%. That is pretty normal. Oh yeah, she has had 3 more litters with no problems.

I didn't have to. The pups did great and never showed any symptoms. I kept and raised 4 of them and still have 2. They will be 3 this July.

same here. raised 9 healthy pups off female that had erlichia and the male i bred to had it also. no issues great aacting pups that are treeing the piss outta coons now. my vet said there is a very low possibility of the transfer from mommy to pups.
