matt turner...

bear hunting buddy don came down to chase some nebraska whitetails again and i took caden out opening morning and night and then again this evening. caden got sick to stomach last night so couldnt go this morning. had some crazy action and some slow hours sitting but overall very happy considering how hard EHD hit in area. didnt hunt with but kept in touch with mike magorian and his brother. they both got nice bucks with little brother getting so lucky for second year in a row i hope he buys lottery ticket tomorrow.

i decided well before season wouldnt harvest any deer let alone a buck without the boy along and sure enough had easy chances at some wall hanger deer let go during hours kid went home... don almost disowned me on the one deal letting deer walk. glad i did though, getting deer we did was funnest deer hunt ive been on and to boot super long shot im estimating over 500yds. gonna verify with gps tomorrow. the little old .308 with good glass will reach out there.

lucky to have friends like mike magorian, he did brunt of work building platform for my new stand.

don filled opening morning. he had some crazy action same morning with multiple bucks rutting so hard walked between the ladder part of stand and tree.

me and little guy been spending some time in the stand. he inherited my old binos.

little 6x6 me and caden harvested. little boy dutch henry wont remember but him and mama came out to watch load deer.

458 yards is a long poke, I don't care what anyone says. Windage and elevation and knowing your rifle, ammo are a most to hit a barn at that distance.
Ruger was just named Firearms Manufacturer of the Year for the second year in a row.
Adios,
Gary

Matt' you and Don, Caden

You have some nice Nebraska Whitetail. Congratulations on the great shot and the meat and trophy horns to boot.
Don needed the break from running bear hounds. I bet his heart rate went up when those horns were under his stand. Don prolly will be ruined for hunting deer in Wisconsin.
Your family is growing. Caden looks like he is going to have a sharp eye. Thank You for sharing your pictures. You look like you have great hunting area.
