Pup training

Everyone give me your methods of starting pups 4-5 months old.

Get a coon hide and play with the pups. When they start treeing the coon hide make trails for them and put the hide out of sight in the tree instead of letting them tree by sight.

Teach them manners and obedience.

Take a fresh cased hide, scrape the fat off the skin, stretch it fur inside and let it dry. Turn the hide fur side out, stuff it with dry oak leaves and sew the hide shut. Put a strong string through the eye holes. Tie the string to a pole and play. Let them chew a LITTLE but mostly have them chase it. Keep the times short so they don't get bored with the game.

Turn them loose with a dog you can trust and just hunt the fire out of them.

Take John Wicks advice, let them be pups, run loose if you can. Most of the time, this is too young to start. Good Luck

What do you guys do with a very immature pup.
I have one that will tree a coon and has been worked with hides but would rather play most of the time.
He is 15 months old and knows what a coon is but seems like his attention span is so short. He will hunt some nights, others he will run circles around you and bring you sticks.
When he wants to do something he looks very nice but if he wants to play he looks like an idiot.
Do you just wait it out?
