What are your thoughts on the impact of dry conditions, all this smoke hanging in the air, and the super moon on a dawgs ability to get treed?

Took my young one out by himself Sat night. Dry as a powder keg here and I really had doubts about any good results but was pleasantly surprised. Temps in the mid 50s and moon bright enough to read a book. Made 4 trees. All dens. Now before all you guys start up about dog running tracks backwards to a den tree, let me say that the holes we could shine both had coons inside them. Other 2 holes couldn't be shined so who knows. All trees are still leafed out and understory about 15 -20 ft. tall and thick enough so tree canopy couldnt be shined. Even with dust kicking up as we walked in the leaves, I think we had a good night.

Mine will still get treed, just not the way you want them to! Moisture helps scenting conditions no doubt. Dry conditions means dusty, dust will clog the nose and a dog can't smell as well, just like us when working in dusty conditions, we blow dirt for a day after inhaling it while breathing it in. Can't smell or breath through your nose either. And this moon sure ain't helping critter movement, not any darker now than when the sun set earlier. My buddies who run beagles are done by 10am because the dew is gone and so is the scent here lately.

These conditions r perfect for training a young dog......tanite the dogs went 2fer3....last dump they went .5 mile before I heard them.....deep .. treed with a 18 lb. sow.
Wish I didn't have ta call it a nite .....so early! 😑
