The amazing SEARCH tool.

I love to answer questions and help people out but there is another way to get answers and get them almost immediately. Use the search tool on this website.
It is right up there in the upper right hand corner and you can search a few different ways. You will get pages of information and then if you need additional information come on the board and ask and you will save a lot of time. Same way with any product or with any subject. Example "dog won't stay on tree". Type that in and your off to the races without waiting day to get everyones answers.
Here is another tip. I see people come on here and ask about a dogs pedigree. Just go to google and type in the dogs name and put coon hound behind it. Most popular dogs have their pedigrees on the web and they are at your finger tips and you are not waiting hours for someone to respond.
Same way with visiting websites. Everyday I get people messaging me saying they can't find a product on my website. Use the search in the upper right hand corner and the product will pop right up. About any dog related question asked on here can be googled with all kinds of info supplied. Then when you get some info by all means come on here and see if it aligns with what other hunters do or use. It just makes you a more informed person. Saves you a lot of time in the process.
One side note. The search on this site is not the best to use but you can learn a few tricks to make it better as you use it.
The best search perhaps is just to use google and it will show all the post one this site related to your question. Here is an example of what I found for "dog leaving tree" there are also a lot of other sites that discuss the same thing. On the original the titles below are links that bring you back to here. There are actually close to 100 post you can read from that one search.

I do not ask much of anything on here although i do try and help people when i can, I will have to say though the search feature on this site sucks and is hard to use at times, I use the search on all sites a lot and this is the hardest one of all i have ever used because the, KEY WORD, so to speak, You could put a Million Words in the search box and it will say FOUR WORDS MINIMUM, I can find what i am searching for most of the time by adding junk like pounds and stars and this and that in front and behind and it will go to it most of the time, I will say though i have plugged around on a computer for a good many years and i have at times a hard time finding things on here so i would say a new person or some one that has never searched for stuff much is going to have a real hard time finding what they are looking to find on here using the search feature .

Couldn't have said it any better. I have tried to use it multiple times when I know it is something that has been mentioned before, but you get pages and pages of crap that has nothing to do with the price of tea in China.

If I am trying to find a specific post on ukc forum and don't feel like going through 40 pages I just Google the topic and put ukc forum behind it and it usually pops up.

Blake is right. Google it as like you said this site doesn't have the best search. Most the time when I google something it has several post from this site under the topic.

The reason I mentioned it is, several times I see someone ask a question and it doesn't get answered for a day or two. If you need a speedy reply or a pedigree right away the Google is the one to ask. Amazing thing about google is just type in what your asking just like you would if your talking to someone.

I know, you can't even search for "dog box" on a coon hunting forum. Ridiculous.

I sure didn't mean for this to go as negative as it has but.
The search tool on here is not the best. Just google dog boxes UKC and I pulled up 18 pages of dog box post on here.
They all have clickable links and I just pulled a sample of the first page to show you. It comes out a lot better on google
When you search for something on google just put UKC at the end and all the messages on this forum comes up.

We are just having fun, except for thinking Hobo is a moderator. Lol.

When I put in dog box in the search box I get
The search term you specified (box) is under the minimum word length (4) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer.
If this term contains a wildcard, please make this term more specific.
Lol. You would think I shouldn't have to start a new tab to search the site your looking on.

When trying to search a website such as ukc, I like to use the google site search. Type in "site:ukcdogs.com dog box" for example and it will give you everything dog box related on the message board. Do not type in www in the address. If you hit images, you can see pics of almost every dog box posted on the site. I use this on other dog message board when I'm trying to get ideas.

What does your question have to do with this thread ?
Unless you want to do a search and see if a Poodle will tree a Coon, Lol.

Maybe there isn't an adequate answer without hurting someones feelings. If your dreaming about the poodle chasing cats, who am I to squash a dream. Good Lord knows I have been dreaming about my dogs treeing coons for 50 years and I am sure many of them weren't as good as your wifes poodle.

The poodle question was a joke. I nor my wife has a poodle but many people over the years have asked about various dogs that showed game and the people asked the question.

It is right up there in the upper right hand corner and you can search a few different ways.

So after saying this and forming a thread about how you would like to help people, but they should use the "amazing search tool", now you are saying, "maybe you should just use Google because this search engine sucks". What exactly was the point of this thread to begin with?

Google works well. The search engine that is not up to par is the one on this site. Yes I like to help people but the point of the search engine is insant answers. You don't have to wait till some reads your post. Second thing is I get a pm and type out a long answer to only have it say the users pmbox is full. Then they wonder why I am not answering. Only trying to help people get answers faster.
