Judge being out voted?

Ive always been under the impression that in any case, the cast vote can over turn a judges call. Recently I had talked with a former ukc rep that told me there are several things that is judges discretion and can not be over turned by a cast vote on a hunting judge situation.

The situation we talked about was a babbling call at a recent hunt I attended. The judges dog opened before we cut and for about 5 secs after. The judge struck his dogs right after calling "cut em" the dog soon shut up no more than 5 secs later. After about 5 mins of his dog not opening she then opened way in. I asked how far she was and he said 316 yards. I called for a minus on a babbling call. Cast votes in favor of minus on a babble and the judged argued his dog didn't babble and put a ? On the card. The minus didn't determine the out come of the car win, but if it would have came down to that, would the moh have to rule in favor of the cast or the hunting judge? Once the hunt was over and I took the card back to the club I noted the judge had circled the minuses strike and scribbled out the ? Mark. So in the end he didn't even do his duties as judge and keep the score card correct.

I don't know of any call made by a hunting judge that cannot be overturned by a majority of the cast.

that's has always been what I thought, but he insisted that there are several calls that can't be over turned by a cast vote. I feel every call should be able to be taken to a cast vote when a hunting judge is being used. If the cast can not overturn calls the judge is surely going to have a upperhand if he wants to play that way. And as you know, no one's dog ever babbles in a hunt.

Jim

If the hunting judge would of had to take minus strike points then he would have to restike his dog before he can tree him. Is that right?

this is judges discretion. But can still be questioned.

The judge absolutely makes the call, but the cast can question and vote on it. If outvoted then it is overturned.

Yes can vote. 3 to 1 vote on anything goes with majority.
2 to 2 vote on babbling and scratching always goes with how the judge votes.. He's a tie break winner in a sense.
