What is your thoughts about cheating hunting off feeder buckets. Lets say I am a guide not hunting a dog and take a 4 dog cast to my area HOW do you think they are cheating?

Why don't you just put a Coon up a tree and lead the dogs into it....LOL
Why would you want to put any dog on Feeder Buckets other than a very young hound by itself ?
I never could understand this......

HOW DO THE GUYS IN PA DO IT. PA LAW SAYS NO HUNTING OVER BAIT. SO IF A GUIDE TAKES YOU TO A FEEDER BUCKET IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL. AND UKC SAYS TO FOLLOW STATE LAWS.

It's all how you word your reply. It's training not hunting. Hunting involves shooting the coon. Training doesn't. But I haven't used a feeder in a long time.

In west virginia. I have a ticket from the dnr that says if i persue game im hunting. As far as buckets go, it takes a real piece of work to not see the difference in feeder buckets cast and the normal drops where you may or may not hit a track

I don't think feeder buckets work. lol

Feeder buckets are used for a lot of reasons, some pretty good ones. Come down here and let me send you and your dog into a big bad swamp. Then I tell you that I know where a feeder is and they should be able to put the coon up before it makes it to the swamp. I could get a lot of you guys liking feeders.

I personally am not a big fan of them. To lazy to keep them filled. It also cost a lot.

Let me ask this question. A wise woodsman knows what the game he is hunting is feeding on. He then positions himself to hunt near that feed. So if your going coon hunting and you know what the coon are feeding on, you won't go to another area to turn loose will you. You go to where they are feeding. The guy with the feeder also knows where they are feeding so what is the difference.

Ask those same wise woodsmen how often they are wrong. I bet they miss alot more than a feeder bucket hunter does.

Coon hunting off feeders is about the same as all the deer hunters that use a spot light they say its no different than baiting or driving deer or hunting where the woods are full of acorns.

I have only one problem with feeders and that is the hunting judge that takes you where HIS feeders are . A dog hunted off the same feeders knows where to go strike one . They'll cast dogs away from the feeder and his dog shoots a half mile behind you and nails one near the bucket. Other than that great training aid , no different than people hunting around corn fields.

I live in North East Tennessee we don't have a bad coon population but it's not great either. I personally have no feeders but plenty do. You will have a few coon put up real quick on a bucket but the majority around d here are not like that. I've seen plenty of times dogs get struck near a bucket and still go 800+ yards too get treed. I've also seen a whole bunch of slicks off those same Buckets the dog still has too pick the right tree.

I get a kick out these feeder bucket threads. Fact is they are hunted over. I mean I remember the last florida state hunt I attended in providence years ago and we hunted a deer lease . There were corn feeders everywhere we treed lmao. It is what it is . What do you call casting around a pond or down the creek bed --- dry holing lmao.
