Bluetick Houndsmen

I didn't ask a very good question the first time on this post, I'll try again..

If you could own a dog from any bloodline, from anywhere, who would you select and why? Many would select their own kennel first, but what would your second choice be.

Thank you

I'm not an accomplished houndsman, but I've hunted Blue dogs for decades.

To answer your question, there is no Bluetick breeder who has put out world hunt winners like Bellar and Deventer.

My question to you is what do you plan to hunt, where and if you are a pleasure hunter or competition hunter??? Until these questions are answered, I don't think I could give you an answer.
Thanks and Adios,
Gary

Hounds

I don't think one man has tried all different blue bloodlines. I personally had Hammer; Jet, Smokie river, and Utchman. I Have settled on the Hammer jet mix which goes back to Hammer anyways. But the family breeding of both crosses over the years has been successful & to cross them up seems to work well. I've also been told to cross up to Smokey river and you will get good results. I would suggest you to look at Ron Taylors breeding program. He has had a lot of great crosses out of his stock. Between Dave Dean ED Meade & Ron Taylor stock I don't think you can go wrong. History speaks for itself. Look at Boomer, Pounder, piazon, jet 9,Son Dancer the list goes on....... Study the pedigrees of the successful hounds they will tell you the story. I believe you family breed the traits you like and outcross for the traits you want. What do you all think?
