Richard-

I think you could get a little more Rabble in there if you bred Wilma to Coupe(rocky x chick)...

Chevcat, Coupe is an option for the future. Nt Ch Bear is another option for a future cross. Four times Rabble and three times Sally. Would I get another Moose or Willow?....

I'd bet that you'd have a pretty chance of getting a good one off that cross

Rabble

Here ya go Mark. Got this from Tom's thread from Tom himself.
I hunted with Rabble about 12-15 times. Pretty much the way Tom describes him.

quote:
Rabble Rouser was what I'd call a medium to deep hunter but always hunted what we put him in...no straight line running until he found a coon. He had what I'd call a cold nose. He would strike first or second and then would put some distance between where he struck and when he opened again. He'd cover a lot of ground in between barks but always open enough to enjoy the chase. He located with a warbling bawl on cold tracks and a screaming bawl on hot tracks and then would roll over to a steady chop. You'd always find him with both front feet on the tree and looking straight up the wood. When he knew you were close, his tail would be waggin' hard and you could hear it and see it that he was happy to see you.

He was full of coon sense just like his sire and grand sire...you didn't often look at an empty tree and if you did, it was an honest den or crossing. In competition if he located and treed, there was a coon there but if he located with other dogs but didn't get to treeing, it didn't matter how the other dogs were blowing it down...there was no coon in the tree. When the tree was checked and the dogs led away, you'd hear him in the distance treed and with the coon.

He was honest, didn't have a mean bone in his body, was good looking and just a great disposition. You could put any pup with him and under any circumstances and he'd always let them get on the tree or have the coon and never a mean moment...never!

If these young dogs develop any of the good traits that he had, folks will enjoy a top hound for a long time to come.

Pastor Mike

I sure do miss talking dogs with Ol' Tom. Even when I was just a little kid, he would take the time to give me a call or shoot me a PM on the message board. He always had a great way of getting down on my level so I'd understand better what he was trying to explain to me. I always appreciated that.

It sounds like by that description that a lot of those traits are being passed down. All of the hounds I've hunted with in the past that went back to Rabble have displayed at least one of those traits or some sort of combination.

Tom sure knew his dog, that's for sure

Yes.

P.Mike I think I remember you guys going up there a while back. I am thinking Buck went also, but was not sure if Richard went up. He must have been young when I hunted with him a National Redbone Days, I think in LaGrange. But like I said it was back near 2000 maybe earlier. Maybe 2003. Not sure.

I think Dave may have a couple, but he is looking for a close bred female to Ol' Rabble.

I sure miss talking with Tom too Corey. We always talked on saturdays and we would just laugh and cut up as we talked about these ol dogs. He sure helped a lot of people and kids with their dogs. Dave still takes bunches of kids hunting every fall and I love seeing those pictures. Sure miss the days when we would all meet up at the hunts.

Mark, I think Tim is right, rabble died around 09 or 10. We still go up to toms in the fall to see him and Dave. Rabble was a good one and reproduced pretty good too.
