Heading up north to band woodcock chicks in the mornings and trout fish in the evenings. Fishing is going to be tough because I'm expecting the rivers to be high and off color. Hoping for a few 12 inchers for the frying pan.

Been getting my limit of catfish every day on my home grown red worms getting tired of cleaning fish. Going out to the lake today to help wife with the school kids some of them never been fishing I got some holes baited out with soured corn when they catch those carp they have a blast Michelin tire company is paying for everything they feed them good.

Tell us a little bit about those chicks ,are they incubated or pen raised from wild birds ? I don't mean to hijack the thread ,just interested .

Now back to whipping the water into a white froth casting your lines ,lol

No...these are wild birds! Can't raise grouse or woodcock in captivity. We run the Setters and they will point the hen and brood. Little puff balls the size of a golf ball and sit real tight. Hard to see. Usually a brood of four. Take some measurements and clip a band on them. State regulated and quite a bit of paperwork but good for the resource and an extra month to run the dog!

FISHING

Mason fishing from the pier here at the house Saturday morning on the Bogue Chitto River. He is a River Rat like his Paw Paw. All the fish are biting good now that the river is down and clearing up and the weather couldn't be better.
