I start with Deer corn, scatter a couple handfuls on the ground around the feeder and on the feeder. You gotta make sure there are squirrels in that area.

I started this post around noon yesterday. I went out this morning to take a look and the deer completey emptied one of the feeders. I didnt think they would bother sunflower seeds. The other feeder is up too high for them.

Use five gallon buckets with 2 1/4" hole cut near the top. And fill only about 1/4 of the way it coon will get a bunch. Google squirrel feeders on images.

I used 4 inch pvc and cat the bottom at a small angle. And pushed it into the ground leaving about a 2 inch gap for the seed to gravity feed down and the deer in one nite dug the ground out and wiped me out. I actually jumped them up going in to the feeder. Thanks mcsuizzle i will try that.

I use black oil sunflower seeds the squirrels seem to like them better than striped sunflower seed or corn they waste the corn only eat the heart out and leave the rest go to waste I put in 6inch pvc pipe 2 foot long with a board on the bottom with a 1inch hole on each side of pipe and the squirrels sit on board I hang on tree about a foot off the ground and use a pvc cap on top to keep out weather and other critters
