Bloodlines??

Does anyone know what bloodlines the late Mr. James Riley from S.C. had in his dogs? My uncle used to hunt with him back in the 80's and said he had some top notch hounds. He also had some dogs from his stock and said they were 110% COON DOG. He said Mr. Riley had one male he called "rambo" and my uncle's male out of his stock was called "big boy"... Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

I know one dog he had, Sail, was out of Earl Hill's Ark. Blue. Blue was 1/2 brother to a lot of Warren Haslouer's dogs.

Vaughn's Arkansas Blue.

James Bought Vaughn's Ark Blue from Leroy Penny. Leroy had bought him from Tom Garris . Tom Traded a nice quarter horse mare to Elbert for him and was not to breed him. Tom did not but shortly after Mr Penny bought him he was bred a lot.My brother-in Law worked with Tom Garris back then.

James had him at stud for a time.

Why was he not supposed to breed him?

Others will tell you differently, but there aren't really any.

Elbert has been dead a long time.

Some guys have dogs that go back to his sock, and that's about as close as you can get.

Of course, just about every Blue dog alive goes back to his stock.

I have given you my opinion.

A lot of good and knowledgeable Bluetick men may tell you something different.

I would talk to Steve Perryman ifI were you.

He might know whereto send you.

The Sail dog of James was named Smokey River Blue Sail. James renamed him Edisto River Blue Sail. And the dog mentioned earlier Vaughn's Arkansas Blue was not the original one who came along years before that Elbert had. UKC"s name change policy would prevent that from happening now.
