Tri County Beagle Club will be hosting the UKC WV State Hunt on March 12th and 13th at the Taylor County Fairgrounds in Grafton, WV. Deadline is 6:30 am for registered and 10:30 am for the champions, grands, and bench show. $20 entry fee for the hunt and $10 for the show. We will be awarding prize packages and trophies for the State Hunt Champion, Reserve State Hunt Champion, State Show Champion, Opposite Sex State Show Champion, Youth Hunt Champion, and Youth Show Champion. The state hunt winner will win almost $1200 in cash and prizes including close to $900 cash. We will also have cash for the top 4 dogs in each category both days. Every cast winner and bench show category winners will also receive something. We have about $5000 in cash, prizes, and raffles including $2700 in cash alone. We dont want anybody to walk away empty handed. We will have raffles for the NHBA Scholarship Fund both days, a calcutta both days, and breakfast and lunch will be served both days. We will also be selling raffle tickets for 2 guns, a .22 and a 20 gauge pump. We will draw the winners at our qualifier in May. 100% of the proceeds from this raffle will go towards Youth NHBA Days prizes.

1.00 per ticket each day provides an oppourtunity for 75 dollars in prizes each day as door prizes, must sign in so we can get a rough estimate of how many people are present for the weekend, do not have to be handling dogs in hunt or show, all spectators, cooks, vendors, handlers n dog owners can participate. The proceeds of this little Door Prize Raffle each day will be given to the TRI Cty BC for their use on the youth event this summer.

Please come out and participate in the WV State Championship, the TRI Cty BC members have really pulled together to host an awesome event, Josh, Cody, Jeremy, Doug, Skylar and many many others have been involved, thank you to each of the West Virginia Beagle Clubs and area sponsors as well as Purina for helping with the state hunt!

Here is how we will determine our state hunt champion:

The top 10 dogs in each category will receive points each day.

50 points for 1st
45 for 2nd
40 for 3rd
35 for 4th
30 for 5th
25 for 6th
20 for 7th
15 for 8th
10 for 9th
5 for 10th.

You must win you your category at least one day to be eligible for the state champion title.

We will also be having a 4 dog winners pack for all 3 categories: registered, champions, and grands. This will allow 4 champions and grands to have the opportunity to win their category rather than just the top score.

The dog with the most points based off the point system above at the end of the weekend will be the state champion. We will have tie breaker rules in the event of a tie. I will announce them at a later date.

I will also be posting how we will be determining the state show champion here soon as well.

A big thank you for UKC Field Ops working with the TRI Cty Beagle Club for authorizing them to use Winners Pack groups in each Hunting Catagory to help select a West Virginia State Champion using a point system. This will help provide an equal oppourtunity to all entries. This allows for the event to remain Hunting Beagle Style vs Elimination Style. Good job Josh, Cody, Jeremy and the rest of the TRI Cty club for working with Allen n the Field Ops group at UKC to make this oppourtunity feasible and fair to all participating.

Josh, the Tri County Beagle Club and I worked on finalizing the 2016 Hunt & Show Rules and Tie Breakers this evening to make this as fair and equal as we possibly could do for every single entry. I want to thank Josh Ware for his due diligence and help he has provided me, the West Virginia Beaglers want this State Hunt Event to not only be the best UKC Beagle Event in WV but one of the best UKC Beagle Events of the year in the US, please come out and enjoy next week-end with us, good people, good food, good rabbit dogs and very strong competition.
We also want to thank the surrounding beagle clubs for their help as well, Taylor County Beagle Club, Ritchie County Beagle Club, Central West Virginia Beagle Club of Marshville, Upshur County Beagle Club, the New Barbour Cty BC and the guys from Kirby, Pa for their assistance, I know I am missing many beaglers and I thank you for your help if I missed you.

Scott and Kevin Weaver had a dominating performance this weekend!

Gracie won champions on Saturday and grands on Sunday and is the 2016 West Virginia State Hunt Champion!!!

Preacher Man was 2nd in grands both days and is the 2016 Reserve State Champion!!!

Terry Eddy was best of breed both days and is the 2016 WV State Show Champion!!!

Cassafras owned by Trevor and Corey McQuain and showed by Mason McQuain(youth handler) was our Opposite Sex State Show Champion!!!

Thanks everyone for coming to the hunt!!! It was truly a great event. We couldn't have done it without all the help we received from all the club members, surrounding clubs, and our WV UKC State Rep!

Here is a great picture from this weekend. Every kid that participated won something this weekend, quite a few kids won casts in the hunt and classes in the show. Saturday a youth won the 44 dog registered division in her first ever field trial!!!
