Banjo III

So I've been doing some thinking since the loss of my 3 hounds a few weeks ago. I know I know, me thinking probably isn't a good thing, but I can't seem to get the tragedy out of my head. Deon and I have one Banjo III breeding that was intended to be used on Polly, but isn't going to happen now. So the way I see it, we have three options:
1.) Save it. Hold onto it and hope that we find the right female down the road to use it on.
(I'm not liking this option, because who knows if we will even be hunting later in life. The only thing certain, is the present, so we should live every moment like its our last, because who knows it might be.)
2.) Sell it
(Hate this option, because it's not about money and I want to use it ASAP to get some top notch pups on the ground to start hunting. I'm not getting any younger)
3.) Use it. This is my favorite option, but not sure I have the right female to use it on. So, I'm interested in hearing any suggestions that you might have, and would be interested in working out a deal with someone that has the right female. Titles don't mean crap to me, but if you have a female that will hunt deep, tree it's own coon consistently, has a good pedigree, a good mouth, and a great big ole heart, then let us know what you got and maybe we can work something out. Thanks for reading.

Do I even have to say anything?

Maybe I do. Buy Wendy for $6,000. Breed her to the BIII semen and sell 5 pups for $2,000. Keep 4 pups and resell Wendy for $4,000. You do the math, you will have your money back and 4 pups. I can send you the phone #'s of at least 5 people that have 10 mos old Jim X Wendy pups that will tree their own coon and will not part with them for any amount of money. Sounds like a no brainer to me. Maybe I am selling her too cheap.

JMO...you have suffered a tremendous lose no doubt, hard to even try to understand that kinda lose..

Who knows why things happen like that, but maybe there is a reason or a plan.

My opinion, you have a b3 pup rite now that is just about ready to get serious with..that puppy is eligible for the baby stakes this fall..I hope to see you and her at the babystakes this fall...I plan to have her brother there.

I would consider saving the semen,,put your time in that puppy and give it all you have,,,you will know soon if she will make the cut..

If she does then you take a female off that pup and breed that female to your b3 semen,,,I think you have something worth putting a lil time in and be patient,,,cant get any better cross than grandsire to granddaughter..this can be accomplished in just a few yrs...

JMO,,,good luck,,whatever decision you make,,,lil patients can go along way....

Larry is right, hunt that young prospect. But it never hurts to have one waiting in the wings just in case. Sometimes you have to be a multi-tasker.

I would see if Shane or Doc has something they would use as an outcross on one of your females. I do not know of anyone else who has spent more time and money than these two guys the last couple of years promoting the breed. They should be up Breeder or Promoter of the year for sure.

I say if you needed a pup it would be a good idea to use it.... I think you and Deon have a total of 4 pups between you all and one being directly out of BIII. I see no reason to rush the breeding of Banjo III at this time..... Just my opinion. Train what you got and go from there.... Who knows you might want to use the III semen on something local in a year or so.😉
