Southern National Redbone Days

Cedar Grove, North Carolina, Feb 18, 19, 20.....
I wonder if there will be anyone there this year? I know that 7 or 8 of the Va Cartel members will be there. Is anyone else going? I bet that the Redbones that won at Grand American and Winter Classic will be there.

So, Dog isn't coming. I bet that Mack Attack will be there. Are the Va Cartel members the only ones that are coming? I thought that the plan was for Outlaw Mac to be hunted there. And isn't Shane coming down Sat night? Are you bringing one of those young dogs with you? Will Spud and Trip be there? Why is everyone being so tight mouthed? There are only two weeks left to get ready. I know that all of you Northern guys have had good weather to get your dogs ready.(Except for that Crazy Luke guy)

Richard, Mac and I can only make it down on Saturday. That wasn't the original plan but Shane said he'd let it slide this one time.

Good weather ????????????????????????

Last week I had two young dogs treed on an Island from Monday night until Thursday.
They were in the marsh and I could not get to them and was not risking my life.. Ice was everywhere… The tidal creeks were full of ice… Since I hunt solo I was not taking any big chances. . There is now another 3 inches of snow… Thank you Mr. Weatherman for getting this one wrong. Hopefully tomorrow I will be at a slam in Southern Maryland. ….. I might be at Southern. Hopefully it won't be 6 degrees this year…I bet that was cold.

Mark, a yankees "risking my life", is probably just a Southern boys, "stroll through the park". Just remember what little Billy said, "you get em treed Dan and I will get em out".
The weatherman is predicting cold weather in Cedar Grove next week but warming up and extremely nice for Southern Days this year. It is about time. I can remember wearing only a t-shirt at SRD one year. Only 11 more days now, it is getting down to crunch time.

Only one more week, not much interest I guess.

I can remember (barely) back in the olden days when all of the Pa and Ohio and New Jersey guys would come down. But then we had several years of bad weather with snow and ice and they quit. Maybe since the weather is supposed to be nice this year, a few of them are planning on sneaking down to whup up on them Va boys.

Yep

And there was an RQE and if I am not mistaken purina points at one time. Might as well save my money and hunt a bigger hunt, maybe SETW days or some state hunts. . There is not one redbone guy that would buy one of my pups if I brought them to southern or national redbone days. Been there done that. Came home with what I brought. But could have sold two, just to cast spectators at the last PKC event I attended, 95% walkers and one redbone….Me… Where is the fun in beaten up a bunch of redbones???? I get way more enjoyment when I hear from the walker guys and they say stuff like, " never seen a redbone hunt like that!" " Never seen a redbone tree like that!" " Never been beat by a redbone!" Well.. There you go…

I believe last year was an RQE? Somebody can correct me if not.

I'll speak for myself and am looking forward to hopefully meeting a few more redbone folk and put a face with a name. I'd love to compete all 3 nights with one of the best dogs I've ever led around, but family first and my oldest has a game on Friday night. But, he'll be riding sidekick Saturday for the trip over. I'm also trying to talk Mr. Shew into making a showing.

I hope to see everyone...maybe even say hello to the one and only Mr. Lambert again. 👍

John, I hope that I am the only one also. I sure would hate to draw out with another me. Mark, I like drawing out with and beating and getting beat by Redbone people myself. Those walker guys are no fun. I hate to get beat by a walker but I don't mind getting beat by a Redbone. I doubt that any of the Redbone people care whether it is a Purina Hunt or not and having 70-100 Redbones hunting on Thursday night sounds like a pretty big hunt to me. You are right about it being tuff to sell Redbone pups at a Redbone Hunt. Usually everyone there already has a couple of their own. Good luck at SETWA. Now that is a really big hunt to win with a Redbone. The odds are truly not in your favor. I can't wait to see everyone at SRD.

Southern Redbone Days

Do both the handler and owner of the dog hunted have to be members of the association? Can you join the association at the hunt?

Entry

I was told that either the handler or owner had to be a member at that time. My handler was not a member is why I asked the question at entry time.

Swordshag, according to the Redbook on pg 23, that is correct. There will be someone there to sign up new members or renewals on Thursday before the hunt. The weatherman says a cold front is blowing through this weekend/early next week but then an early Spring will arrive on Thursday, bright sunshine and 52 degrees. It is supposed to get up to 60 on Sat. Y'all had better pack a couple of t-shirts.

There are only 3 days left to get them ready. I guess that I had better make up my mind who I am going to take. The weatherman says that it will be a sunny 56 degrees on Fri and 65 on Sat. I bet the coons will really be out and about. I don't know if I can stand it.

Oh my goodness, I plumb forgot about the Cracker Barrel on Fri morning at 11 AM. Be there or be square. It is the place to be if you want to know what is "really" going on in the Redbone world.

Hillsborough exit off I-80 has the biggest selection. But there are a couple at the Graham exit off I-40. Weatherman now says 55 on Thursday, 57 on Friday and 65 on Sat. Oh my goodness...

It looks like the nice weather is going to bring the big guns out. Weatherman says 27 for the low Thursday night but only 41 on Fri and 43 on Sat with a high of almost 70 on Sat. The bench show and treeing contest should be a lot of fun to watch this year.
