Big difference in AKC and UKC breeders when they sell puppies....A lot of AKC breeders do puppy contracts which may limit your owner rights . An example of this is puppies sold as "PET" are usually required to be spayed or never allowed to be bred....why? Because the breeder feels the puppy IS NOT good enough to be bred and they want to protect their line of hounds from inferior breeding. Some breeders will require the new owner to allow the breeder to use the hound in the future for their own breeding program, such as collecting semen from the males or even asking for the females to be bred to a particular stud. This of course is not all AKC owners but it is kind of standard practice in the AKC world.....but there are those that do have AKC hounds that sell straight out. I love the look of "Kaine" he is very handsome in the photos. Don't know anything about the Southwind hounds other than they do seem to win in the conformation ring of AKC shows. Good luck with your purchase. Kim McKenzie
