It all depends for me. If I've been hunting hard then they get about an extra cup of feed. But if its real cold I do the same thing also. And it depends on the dog too. Some are harder keepers than others. I feed roughly 2 cups a day to each of my dogs. Both females, 1 bluetick and 1 walker. The bluetick never seems to fluctuate in weight no matter the amount you feed. But the walker will fluctuate some 3-5lbs one way or the other.

Depends on the dog and what part of the country you live in. In general my dogs only get 1/3 the amount in the summer that they do in the middle and end of hunting season. I never look at the recommended amount, I look at my dogs.

My dogs get hit with a double whammy during hunting season. Harder hunting and much colder weather. Plus a lot of times I'm hunting young dogs which most take a lot more calories than a mature dog. I've had 1 or 2 young dogs that took 4 times the amount during hunting season that they were getting in the summer.

If I am hunting them, all they want. I let them decide how much.

a dog will let you know if your over feeding by either leaving some feed or loose stools or just plain getting fat a good deworming program is a must to get the most out of your feed !

My dogs are getting just shy of four cups morning and evening over the winter. Come summer I'll probably be feeding more like 3 cups morning and evening (but most of my dogs don't really clean their feed up in the summer time either they more or less self feed). That's feeding Pride 26/18
