ideas

Our club will be participating in a church cabin fever day. We are in need of some ideas to promote our sport to kids. We will be in a building with a space of about 12'x12'. Im thinking of interaction with puppies and showing a dog on bench. Would like an idea of teaching scent trailing. Anyone got any?

Mayb take some American beagler magazines with you for the kids to look at also have alan send you some stickers to hand out kids like stickers! Ukc has or use to have a kid section on the website dont no if there is anything you could down load for them also mayb you could contact carl with purina mayb he would donate some purina hats or somthn to give the kids that would be cool! But daves idea is good and harry the puppys and bench showing is good to! Get your most famous beagler from that area and have him come talk to the kids and tell them all his/her great storys from past yrs! I nominate joe brown lol!! Great thing ur doin with the kids!!

Kids love prizes! Put together a package of sporting goods to give away a nice raffle prize. Sign up for raffle includes: EVERY child who participates receives a free rabbit hunt. Option to go hear a pack in action without guns involved for the young children and for those who do not currently hunt. The raffle sign-up would establish a contact list of interested youth and then send them an invitation to your hunts and any upcoming youth events, club meetings, etc.

An opportunity to go to the woods and hear the music of the pack in action would be the greatest influence.

Schedule a special youth day event at your club to reinforce their new interest. The event should be fairly soon after the cabin fever day. Follow-up support for a child's new interest is instrumental.

Poster with a list of all the support offered by UKC to promote the youth of our sport:

Outline of NHBA youth program.
NHBA Scholarship Program.
NBPPA Programs and events.
UKC Youth Program description and offer all scheduled UKC Youth Event Dates. I tried to find the dates of all upcoming dates for the Youth Hunts but did not find them. Can anyone help with where to find the dates?
Also does UKC still have a youth forum on message boards? If so post that contact info.

Establish a list of youth hunter pen pals for the newly interested child to contact.

3 x 5 cards to hand out with all club event dates, youth event dates, UKC website info, contact info to the club, pen pals, etc.

If you also include Coonhounds you will have a ton of info. YEP {Youth Education Program)...
