So Does Anyone Else Have Bad Nights or Just Me??
So does anyone else have bad hunts or am I the only one??
So here was my hunt last night. I took Fancy and Sal last night. I think I had a dog that was going thru her terrible 2's last night!!
Drop #1:
Fancy trees about 200 yards from me, Sal moves track on another 200 into someone's back yard and gets yelled at by the home owner and Sal comes back a little closer, Fancy is slick and boot her off tree.
She strikes again about 200 yards another direction Sal Opens with her. Walk into tree and Sal is spilt from Fancy and both trees are slick , But on a positive note Sal does split and stay .
Boot them off of there trees and dogs move on.
Fancy and Sal then go 400 yards up the holler, trees again. Walk into tree and they have two coons up one tree!! Yeah!!! Finally a coon. Shoot one coon out.
Then recut from there.
Dogs go another 400 or so and reopen, they are moving track really good and are doing a nice job, Fancy trees, Sal Moves on, about the time we walk into fancy's tree she leaves and moves track on another 200 and Boo Hoos around like the track just vanished.
At the same Sal get board, moves into an open field hits something, and runs almost 1/2 mile across open country ( I don't believe it was a rutting coon) .
Then Fancy finally trees where she was boo hooing around. Its slick again, so with a really nice tug she gets pulled off of tree. On a positive note Sal does return after his little jaunt and we catch him and go to truck.
Drop # 2
Just turned Fancy out this time, she puts her head into wind and runs wrong direction behind a bunch of houses. She goes about 600 yards right behind someone's house and trees in there junk pile. I get yelled at by home owner not because I am causing a ruckus in there neighborhood but because I couldn't get the coon out of the junk pile to kill it. "She said it was eating her cat food off of her porch. Catch Fancy return to truck.
Recut again, She then heads back across road to houses. Run her down 300 yards and catch her in the another neighbors yard.
Recut again, she finally goes the right direction goes 600 yards to woods and ends up treed in a small cavern, nothing seen . So Recut her along the field she goes around the corner about 100 yards in front of me and gets into skunk. Oh ya and it stinks!!! :| She leaves skunk on her own and then goes another 600 and trees a coon!! Yeah Finally another Coon
Walk her back out to big field recut goes about 500 yards and trees on a Den. Nothing seen but was a den.
So by this time I figured I have taking enough punishment for the night and start heading back 3/4 mile to truck.
When I get about 400 yards to truck I see another Skunk in field in front of me. So I thought this would be good training session. Turn on shock collar, cut Fancy loose, she gets a lesson, and instead of stopping and coming back, goes right by the skunk and goes 800 yards the other direction, across field to woods and trees another coon!!!
So with 3 coons, 2 skunks, 1 den, 1 left tree, a cave, 4 slicks, and a lot of walking I called it a night!!!
So does anyone else have bad nights or are they all good???
