Coon drag for pup

Where is a good place to order scent to make coon drags and how much scent does it take? I saw on the f&t trading post website where they come in different amounts. I've never used drags before so how exactly do you make them?

Make sure u don't get a breakin scent. But whatever drag scent I get il mix it 1 third scent 2 thirds water. Don't want the drag to hot.

For a added bonus get the same scents ur local clubs use in field trials just incase. I dunno if it matters or not. My catfish pup burns it up no matter what brand. I started doin it wit him wit success first time at 9 weeks. And i use the pete rickards dog trainin scent.

Do you put the scent on an old coon hide and then drag it through the woods a little way and then hang it up in a tree or what?

If i have a fresh coon then i just cut the tail off and use just that. I prefer natural scent. Also after if the pup starts doin real good on scent then I switch to real coon only a few more times. But i use just like a 2 inch by 12 inch rip of a rag. Or a sock. Tie on a string. And il also plays games wit it. Twirl the rope around above ur head at a 15 ft radius. Let the pup chase it in a circle. Tellin him to get that coon. Then il let him catch it, throw some dog food kibble at his feet wit out him seein. Take drag away and let him eat the kibble. Tell em good boy. Or ahead of time teach speak command. Run that drag and watch at a distance. If it trees and just stands there il say speak and won't go in till he does. When i first started doin drags id run it and hang it. But at 9 weeks id smear peanut butter and mash in dog kibble as high as he could reach. So he's associate that scent with a tree at the end wit a treat.

i was always told to just use a fresh kill if you was going to make a drag because everyone says that the bottled scents don't smell the same as what its intended for and it will cause a dog to get trashy , i can't say i have never used any bottled scents this is just what i have been told through the years ..
