Direct TV Users?????

Thinking of switching to Direct TV as I want access to more sports. Right now I am with Comcast and the other game in town is WOW formerly Knology - which offers even less sports.

How bad is Direct TV losing signal when raining? Or even on a windy day.

I have always heard that the satellite cable is dodgy when raining or windy - wondering has the technology gotten better on limiting those problems.

Buckshot ,we have Directv . We have never lost it because of high winds here ,but if you have big big thunderstorms like way south of us you can lose your signal like from 30 seconds to maybe 5 minutes ,just depends on how fast those big thunderstorm clouds move out .

Here in Virginia if it is raining most of the time my direct TV goes out. I used to have Dis Network and it was Ok really never had issues with it, but really do not like Direct.

Only lost signal in a heavy rain like a thunderstorm I have had to go out and knock the snow out of it several times this winter but the sports package is pretty good but if you want MLB or NFL or NBA thats all on different packages but you can watch some college games you may never have heard of

You could not pay me to ever use direct tv again. The service was fine while I had it but the customer service is aweful and they will cheat you anyway they can. When we closed out our account to get just regular TV. I closed out the account on the phone sent the recievers back and everything seemed fine. They even sent me a check for around $75 saying that we had over paid. Then they sent me a bill a month later saying we owed them $125 but said they would love to have us back as costumers. Then they sent me on a rat chase trying to get of the situition taken care of gave me address to write too about the situation but no phone number. They are crooked beware.

I don't consider them in the same conversation. We've had Digital TV since Their inception. Dish talks the talk, but they can't walk the walk. We would NEVER go back to dish.

I've been with Directv for 16 years ,I really like the Tivo setup and how you can customize your programming ,heck you can buy one single channel (ala carte) as they put it . Shoot you can pause live broadcast ,run it backwards for an hour or so and Sports you can have them running out your ears . Shoot me Pm if you want to with any questions .

Dish starts you out El-cheapo, Then puts it to you with increases with price increases, every time you turn around. Save the head aches, go with DIRECTV!!

Randy, I know. It is crazy. Prices keeps going up but losing channels left and right. I am paying about that much just for the Cable. I am done and ready to move on.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I have looked at the Direct TV packages and then the add-ons I am interested in, and will be saving money with a heck of alot more content - for me I am interested in the sports and Direct TV has what Comcast is majorly lacking.

I am watching a game right now on Fox Deportes through a computer streamed to my TV through my Google Chromecast.

Would rather be a watching on a real tv channel in HD without any lag if you know what I mean.

My cable bill comes due within a week so I may wait till the next billing cycle to switch over.

Direct tv has a bunch of hidden fees. Your package will be 79.00 but your bill will be 125.00. They charge 5 for each tv. 10 for hd. 5 for each DVR. Some bogus processing fees. I changed to dish pay something like 45.00 a month less have all the channels I had except one of the kids channels. Have more sports channels. And they don't charge me extra for hd or extra boxes. I was with direct tv for 10 yrs and when I called to switch they offered to reduce my bill by 10 bucks a month. Said no thanks. Then they pulled my last months bill from my account 2 weeks early and with out telling me. Bounced checks and screwed my account up. I will never do business with them again.

I have had dish network for a long time and not had any trouble with them.
once in a while during an extremely heavy downpour it will lose signal for a few minutes but its rare.

Had dish for years. Decided that I had a better use for that 80.00. Dish and Direct are now owned by the same company so get out the Vaseline. Anyway we had it for 15 years and really don't remember an issue with it cutting out except when a doozy of a storm was comein from the west, then I had other stuff to watch.

Do you have a link or anything where I can verify that? Everything I can find online says they are not owned by the same company.

DIRECT TV

We've had Direct TV Since November. A 12 month package at reduced rate. We can't change packages without paying back the savings we received. BUT, they E-Mail a month or two late that our bill will be going up 7%. And they took away THE WEATHER CHANNEL. They gave us some other weather channel that's worthless. Most of the Channels of the 250 we get are duplicates of another channel, advertising for products, same old movies (over & over again) or junk. We only watch about 1/4 of the channels on our package. We've had Dish also. Not much better. We change back & forth as contracts end to get new equipment & lower rates. Got to work them like they work you.
