Bruce or any other garmin genius

A guy brought his DC40 collar over to the house to see if I could help him fix it last night it won't link up with his handheld . He has a 220 but I tried it on 2 different 320's that I have that work well and I can't link it up to them either . I opened it up and everything looks good , it comes on just won't pair with any units . I can't add it manually because I don't know it's # any idea or is it just shot ?

I will add that I cleaned connector and antenna then went ahead and put a new antenna on it . I doubted that it had much to do with the problem but figured it was worth a try .

reset the collar.

Unplug the battery for about a hour. It will reset the collar. It's worth a try.

I would also make sure the collar and handhelds are updated.

I assume the message you see says the collar can't communicate with the handheld?

I update my hand held periodically. How do you update a collar?

Ya handhelds are updated I wasn't sure about his so that's why I tried on both of my 320's .
Yes says unable to communicate with collar . I called garmin a little while ago and they sent me an email on what to try we'll see if it works .

If it works please share it with us. The only thing I can think of would be going through the numbers in manual one at a time till you found out what ID it was.

I quit playing with 320's awhile ago and am more then happy with my 220 and dc 30's but if I remember right I would try the same fix for solid red light dc40 with a 320 it went something like this can you touch collar no assign any number then do update i'm pretty sure there is a ytube video showing how to do this

The instructions are to add any # not used on the 320 they said you can't do it on the 220 . Then a 19 step instructions on it's update with further instructions at the end after all this if it goes well I should then be able to add it to his 220 , this thing will probably end up in the trash by the time I'm done lol .
