The youngest starting dog i ever saw is by insane cain,my huntin buddy owns him. He called me one night and asked if i wanted to take a walk with this pup, i figured he was gonna pull something else outa his dogbox but all he had was this little half grown pup 4 1/2 months old. He cut that little sucker loose and he left on the run, got struck, worked a nice little track, located and hammered a tree like he had done it a hundred times. I was ready to hustle in to the little guy but he said no let him sit for a bit. He hammered that tree for a good 10 minutes before we headed in and sure enough he had the coon, best part of the story is this pup had done this a half dozen times and had never even seen a coon.

I have heard of several and by several I mean several that were grouchy all males. I also have had heard of several that were coon dogs and the guys were tickled death. Chip Johnson has one now that he is having a lot of fun with. If your looking from something that goes back to nailor, I personally might recommend looking into a nocturnal Kane pup. He hasn't been campaigned as near as much but is still on the top reproducers list. They both throw tree dogs that can track with good mouths and smart dogs.
