Sounds like someone getting rid of their dogs to me and didn't bury them . Nothing was mentioned about anybody reporting their dogs stolen . Just my first impression but certainly not good .

If they want to find them there best bet is to look for an anti hunting establishment group like PETA or HSUS or even one of those bluetick dog rescue groups that want to make hound hunting look bad in the public eye.

This looks like one of those people or groups that thought they would save and rescue a certain breed of dogs then became more then they could afford or took up to much of there time.

Maybe so.

It's a small area, shouldn't be too difficult to figure out IF it's a hunter. I won't be surprised either way.

Terrible either way but , the first thing I thought of was a newspaper article a few years ago. It said 10 hounds found abandoned. There was a picture of the dogs and they were definitely not hounds . I called the newspaper and asked them to correct their story but they never did .something like this gives all hound owners a black eye.

Its a bad deal but if they were shot in the head I wouldn't call it cruelty. Cruelty would be to leave them there and to not shoot them. There are a small part of us that make the rest look bad. Theres places to do this and this wasn't the place.

I went to that police department's FB page, and there were many nasty comments from the public, but one person said that HIS dog (which was not a Hound) had also been killed just a few days prior to the Blueticks being found dead. He lives in the same area where the other dogs had been found, & whoever shot his dog dumped the dog's body after removing the collar.

He suggested that someone may be going around killing dogs randomly, but one of his neighbors managed to see a suspicious vehicle near his home at the time this happened, so the neighbor did give a description of that vehicle to the police department.

Like I said earlier it wouldn't surprise me if it is a person connected to PETE or HSUS

according to the Cass County Humane site on facebook, the count is now up to 25 dead blueticks. It also states the police are actively involved and they have started a gofundme page to raise money for a reward. I really hope they find whoever did this

Also be careful of what they post. The humane societies are bad about seriously embellishing stories and to raise funds.

Now that is pretty hard to believe, but I am sure that if you saw it on the interweb it is true. I would think that if someone had 25 blueticks in such a small town that everyone would know. Have they said what killed them? Maybe it was the new canine flu.

As does everyone else anywhere near there in the hound world! Very unfortunate that was their chosen way to dispose of too many dogs.

I think a great deal of people know who the guy is. Look at it this way, his dumb decision not to dispose of the dogs in a better way can ruin the sport COMPLETELY for hunters in that area. I would be running this guy out of town. You just gave some of the antis a life purpose.

I agree Mike, I would have thought that giving the dogs away to good homes would have been a more logical decision.

Just me but if any was my dog I believe me and the other dog owners that their dogs was killed I would go pay the guy a visit, and take matters in my own hands.
I might could understand if it was one or two dogs hurting someone livestock or something. But killing my dogs there better be a good reason and proof but then again should contact owner the first time if dog did do something wrong.

Dec 30th here in southeast Oklahoma a man goes to court on walking in to a tree during a ukc night hunt and shooting and killing two dogs and injuring another dog.
