Rickkets is a Vitamin C deficiency disorder. I would think that giving them any Vitamin C supplement along with an enzyme to help their system absorb/digest it better would help. Doc Roy makes a supplement called Absorb More. I would also think that any Probiotic would help. Or just plain Cod Liver oil would be simple and easy. Of course the simplest thing would be to feed him/her a high quality puppy chow.

You are correct.. I had one a while back that had it in both his front feet.. Purina puppy chow..1 tablespoon cod liver oil.. Half a vitamin c.. And half a vitamin D twice a day..3 weeks later.. No more tripping over his feet. This is what worked for me.

1) Cut out the high protein food, so your pups bone density can catch up to his weight being carried.
2) Administer the Cod Liver Oil
3) Administer a Multi-Vitamin
4)***GET THE PUP IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT THE ENTIRE DAY***

The lack of direct Sunlight is the biggest contributor to a growing pup developing Rickets. Pups get the vitamins needed for strong straight bones from the absorbing the sun's rays.

More sun light, feed less and a low fat low protien feed to reduce there growth.

Rickets is caused by the bones not being able to keep.

Be careful with vitamen D to much is pretty rough on a dog.

If you monitor his feed levels, and give him plenty of sunlight he should come out on his own.

Get a good LARGE BREED puppy food. Designed to grow puppies at a more moderate rate.

I have raised 4 pups in the last 3 years and I give my pups 600mg of calcium with vitamin D3 twice a day in there food, they all grew up with out a problem there bones where nice and strong , with straight legs and good feet, you can buy it at Wal-Mart, I do not believe you can give a dog or anything to many VIT. they would just be like us what our body does not need we will pass it through, if you have one that has it already get you some bone meal and put on it food along with Vit. it should clear it up in no time at all.

I disagree with a high protein puppy feed, made it much much worse for mine. I do agree with a high quality adult based feed. There is another thread right now on same subject, check it as well.
