you know that's proably good advice.respect the mule but don't trust him.they do respond better to being treated kindly.don't mistreat him as he won't ever forget & wait for a chance to get
even.
I would prefer one from a work horse type mare than the others,
though my wife's cousin had a gaited mule that was very nice one.he has been around mules all his life & has had some good ones.

if i had a place for one i'd have one and love to coon hunt off it.
i read that horse back riding is 3 times more dangerous than riding a motorcycle.

I have the perfect spot and live 15 min from Uwharrie National Forrest, which has miles of trails, camping. When I get my mule right, I will have a coon hunt weekend on mules. There will be food, music and mule events during the day and we hunt all night

I heard a story about a guy that has raised and trained several mules. The man was giving advice on training them his advice to the others was that "if you have a good one, beat it you wil have a better one.

We've got 5 mules. My husband coonhunts off of them and loves it. Especially for hide season, that's about the only way he hunts anymore.

mules

I was never on one till i started hunting with Aubrey now i have one. The most exciting times i have had hunting was on a mule. And Ann i was waiting for you to post some pictures. There is so much you can use them for like coonhunting. We even butchered a beef in the woods and drug it out with a mule.

I would love to try hunting with mules one day. I've ridden horses all my life, but haven't had much close contact with mules until recently when I met a "show" mule. I was impressed with how good minded she seemed, and she even was a pretty nice mover! Her owner did admit that when she was "done," she was just done for the day and you could rarely change her mind. We live in the foothills of SC so it sure would be nice to have a ride sometimes, especially if it turns into a long night.
