I woke up this morning to the sad news that my good friend and long time bluetick enthusiest Steve Stader passed away yesterday.

Steve and I had been friends for most of forty years and he will be missed by all those who knew him.

My heart and condolence go out to Steve's wife Kelly and the rest of the Stader family.

Rest In Peace Steve. My friend. RT

I was going to call you and tell you that if you hadn't heard. Kelly called me while he was in surgery. We just never know when our last day on this earth is.
They are having a memorial service for him. That is what he wanted. I don't know the date for this and where.

I had the pleasure of talking with Steve a few years back. I had sold him a light that he bought for his grandson. I could tell Steve was serious about coon hunting and blueticks. He spoke very highly of Elmo's Timber dog if I remember right. I wish I would have went up and hunted with Steve when he invited me, and certainly regret it now. Just from the conversations we had, he seemed like he would have been a good time to hunt with. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Mr. Steve Stader.

Obituary for Steve Stader
Steven Paul Stader, 61, of Monrovia, suddenly passed away from heart complications on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at 10:04pm, in Community North Hospital. He was born on April 25, 1954, in Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle, to the late Paul F. and Anna Marie (Shields) Stader.

A lifetime resident of Monrovia, Steve grew up on a farm located on Kivett Road and graduated from Monrovia High School in 1973. An honest, hardworking, and selfless man, Steve dedicated many years of service working in Morgan County. He worked for a period of time with the County Highway Department and later became a Deputy on the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, where he also ran Animal Control for nearly 10 years. Steve was currently employed at Silvertip (AWG), and delivered propane to several residential and business accounts in the community. He was very active in local 4-H clubs and worked as a ring man at many pig sales and livestock auctions.

Steve possessed a strong and loud personality, which made it impossible for him to ever meet a stranger. He was known to have a genuine heart of gold and always made sure that everyone was taken care of and in check. In his spare time, he could be found coon hunting with his dogs or riding his mules. Above all, his pride and joy in life was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. His silly, ornery, unfiltered ways are now left in the memories of his tall tale stories and his generous, kindhearted attitude will live in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.

Survivors include his loving wife, Kelly (VanArsdol) Stader, to whom he was united in marriage on June 21, 2014; children, Jason Stader (wife, Heather) of Monrovia; Cassie Martin (husband, Jerry) of Greencastle; Cody Stader (companion, Megan Presnell) of Monrovia and Devin Stader (wife, Jessica) of Clayton; Allyson Comer and Ryan Comer (fiancé, Lydia Lawrence) both of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Raegan, Lane, Easton, Colt and Allyson; sister, Jane Ann Crone of Monrovia; nieces and nephews, Brady Crone (wife, Cara), Dusty Crone (wife, Karey) and Jena Crone (fiancé, Tim Smith) all of Monrovia; great nephews, Greyson, Harris and Levi.

On Thursday, October 22, 2015, at 2pm, friends and family are invited to meet at Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia, and follow in a funeral procession to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall. The procession will leave the funeral home at 2:30pm and the graveside service will be held at 3pm. Immediately following services, a Celebration of Life Gathering will take place at the Edwards Farm, located on 7011 N. Kivett Road, Monrovia. Per Steve’s wishes, please dress comfortable and casual along with the rest of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the Monrovia 4-H Supporters, c/o 7834 N. Kivett Rd., Monrovia, IN 46157. Directions to the Celebration of Life and contribution envelopes will be provided by the funeral home. Mr Taylor first put this post up of Mr Stader. I was thinking I knew of him sure was right after reading his obituary At the time he was working for Morgan county animal control had a call to come out to the house had a cattle dog that would not let any one on the place if the kids were outside playing many folks did not like that Mr Stader and that dog made up I would come in off the road from going to rodeos my tailgate dropped and my dog in the back I told Mr Stader,if there was any problems just drop the tailgate and he did many times never knew he ran dogs we just talked horses and mules that was many years ago before I got back in to coon hounds rest in peace. Tom, Wenona and family oh thanks for the dog tags looking back im sure you did cause I know I never did

Put Steve to rest on top of a big hill , over looking some pretty country . Steve was well liked from alot of people . Had around 200 vehicles follow him to the gravesite . He was hauled in the back of his personnel truck to his resting place . Memories will live on .

That was a first to see him put in his own truck. He had made many friends far and wide.
The man had so much knowledge of coonhounds and I hope the family will continue to finish what he started with his blue dogs.
