Advice Please

I have a Garmin 220 handheld bought it used without a trial.. I gave 200$ for it.. Im running one dc 30 on the system and im only getting 600 yards out of it most of the time... Yall reckon a better collar would help.. I got way more with my buds astro 320? Need help? would a long range truck antennae help?

You got 1 of the best collars already.I still run 30's and have no problem.

Replace factory antenna on collar with a long range antenna. The factory ones break inside over time.
I can't remember if long range on 220 hand held do any better or not.
'Bruce Conkey' on here can answer and help you.

Do this. When I went from a 220 to a 320 with the Same collars and antenna setup I did notice a range increase. Lots of times your antenna collar looks like it is good but is broke on the inside and really affects the range

Garmin 220

I have a 220 and the most I get with long range antennas is .6 miles with a dc30 or dc40. And that's flat ground. I have never updated it or had any work done to it. I figure I will buy an alpha soon.

.

There are several distances that the Garmin stops tracking at that indicates a potential problem. 200 yards is generally an antenna problem. 500 to 600 yards if that is all the handheld will do indicates exposure to vhf or CB radio. The way to tell is hook up a magnetic antenna that should double range. If the range does not increase then the handheld is damaged.
