hicks vs hicks

Seeing how both brothers have spent their lives breeding their line of dogs, has there ever been a head to head competition between the Genes B&T and Bill's Plotts.
As an aside, how do these two breeders compare to other breeders.
I don't know anything about either of them or their dogs. But I am seriously considering getting my next dog from one of them based only on what I've read on their web sites..

I have heard lots of great things about Gene's dogs. Never hunted with any though. I do has 2 plotts that came from Bill's line. My 3yr old is a direct son of Kirk's Hoss Creek Joe who is the 2015 NPHA Isaiah Kidd award winner. My 2yr old is off of Bill's Hammer dog. Both were treeing by 7 months old and are very easy handling. They are fairly cold nosed but move a cold track with good speed. Personally, I don't think you would go wrong with either mans dogs.

Thanks Terry. Isn't it interesting how one brother spent a life time breeding plots and the other breeding B&T? There must be some interesting stories to tell.
Any one else have experience with them? I know there must be because there is nearly 100 yrs of dogging between them.

Bill & Gene

I am 48 yrs old and I met Gene Hicks at a ukc hunt when I was 16. Through the years I have seen Gene take dog after dog and win with them. He is 67 and still winning with the same blood he has had for yrs. I have hunted against Gene and his hounds many times. He and his dogs are class acts.

As for Bill Hicks. I have hunted against Bill and his dogs, and like Gene, Bill is a super guy and his dogs were true coonhounds. I have bought dogs from Bill and absolutely loved and enjoyed hunting them.

I have never owned a Black & Tan from Gene, But I called Gene about 2 weeks ago and booked a pup.

Either way go, you won't be wrong by getting a hound from either one.

Yea, I thought that must be the story. How could they not be great men and dogs after so long a history? Yet, I don't recall reading much about either of them on here. Though one of them was advertising three litters of puppies recently.
