Competition Hunters please explain this...

I'm not a competition hunter, never have been,Don't have a dog in the hunt.

Can someone please explain to me how the 7th place overall, high scoring World Championship Enlish male placed like he did being in a dead cast with a total of 75-?
It was my understanding that in UKC hunts the dogs must have plus points to win....just looking for a clarification on this ruling because I don't know.
Thanks,
Michael Jameson

I am pretty sure in these cases; it is determined by previous casts (wins/scores)

I don't think that is possible, out of the 6 English dogs to win/advance in round #1 the Mo dog had the lowest score of 175+

I judged Thursday night andtheway Iunderstood it in the judges meeting was that if you made it through both rounds Thursday night none of that really had any bearing on anything, you had to win your cast and tree a coon by yourself, Friday night was like starting fresh with zero.Hope that helps.

If he was the cast winner with the least amount of minus in round #3 and still considered for placement, then why wouldn't he hunt in the 3 dog cast of round #4?
I'm still lost on this one...

Top 20 was determined by how you finished in the cast no matter what your score first in cast scores place 7 cast 7 places then they went to second in cast there were 7 second place dogs so that was 8-14 place 3rd in cast there where 5 of them because of scratched dogs then they went to 4 place in cast to get the final two dogs for top 20 it sucks because we had 275 circle and some of the other dogs place ing much higher had minus I no that goes against normal rules but that was there top 20 format and guess it has been that away for years but it sure made you fight like hell to not be 4 th. Lol

Because UKC rules states you must have plus points to advance.

T Burton is correct. A dog must have a plus point cast win to advance. But when it comes to placing those dogs that did not advance, they are placed by first in cast scores, followed by second in cast scores and so on....
