Do you look for excuses to stay home?

Do you make excuses to go hunting or do you make excuses to stay home?

Last night, it was raining hard at dinner time. I injured my knee, and it isn't getting any better. It is the middle of the work week, and I have to be up at 6:30 am. Deer hunters have pretty much flooded the state land I hunt, and the coon hunters have been hammering it too. On top of all that the wind gust were unreal. At 7:30 pm when i started getting ready, my wife wasn't surprised. I wasn't dragging my feet and I wasn't making excuses ... I was excited.

The night would live up to my expectations. I had 2 good races that ended up with me driving closer to the dog. The last drop though was an excellent race that started cold and developed into a horse race that had me hopping through the woods under a full moon as it neared the road. I thought for sure when the dog rolled up on a large white pine that would mean I would never see the glow of eyes looking back. Three for three ... I can't wait for tonight!

ya rain, theres plenty of dry days I dont care to go out in the rain.

Edit: Actually I guess I should be more precise, storms, or heavy rain. I dont mind at all when its a light rain, and if theres leaves on the trees, they block half the rain anyway.

Must not have been as windy as it was at my house last night. It was really windy down here. I heard a big tree break and crash to the ground when I was laying in bed! Would have been pretty dangerous to have been in the woods by us last night. Curious to get home tonight and see where that tree came down? Still dark when I left this morning. Glad you were safe and had a good hunt. To answer your question, I look for any excuse to get out of the house. lol

Wind, can't stand wind I mean 20mph or more. Cant hear dogs, and can't stay warm in the late fall or winter. Plus my areas got hit hard with emerald ash bore so there is lots of standing dead trees.

Bruce,

I don't believe you would stay home just to watch tv. Maybe to do some book work for your business or other responsibility, but not tv.

I can't believe it last night had to be one of the best nights of the entire year! Odd part was I didn't see any other coon hunters which is unusual.

Hunted til 215 am Wednesday night. Up at 7 to go fishing. Fish cleaned at 7 pm. Chores finished at 830 and all I wanted was to lay my head on a pillow. Age has effected my hunting style. Raining tonight and watch the ball game.

Just a pot licking biscuit eater walcur dawg that goes back 6 generations top and bottom to my 1st walcur.

Treed 6 singles last night on state land. The last drop did my knee in. There was no driving to do just all walking skirting the edge of two swamps.
