Johnny, to answer your question, NO, every titiled dog can be a stud BUT everyone of them should not be.... The English breed has been blessed the past few years, we have 3 standing World Champions that all seem to be reproducing well and many more that have won or placed high in some big hunts. They say winning breeds success and I believe winning breeds, "breeding", everyone wants a winner. I just spent some time with Doug Nester at his home in Mississippi, one of our conversations was how many differant litters you see on the board each week, it has been that way for the past few years. The question is "WHERE ARE ALL THE WINNERS OUT OF THOSE LITTERS" thats why every titled dog should not be a stud... Good Luck my friend.

PS: Very funny BRAD...

STUD DOGS

If the Current and Historical percentages posted by UKC are the TRUE numbers that we judge by I'd say my chances of getting a good pup are just as good from a no name unadvertised stud as from a highly promoted well known one. Not knocking anyones dog just looking at numbers. I just bought a pup from a Pr. male and NtCh female I think his chances are as good as any to make a nice hound. He's Tapp bred top and bottom a Nephew to Aunt cross.

I agree to some extent about showing up on a list and the winners circle but not everyone competition hunts .if we judge what a coon dog stud is by how many people put there dogs in a hunt and win then we are poor judges.

Couldn't agree more on this observation. It seems so obvious!!! When you see a dog bred to mostly Nite Ch. and Gr. Nite Ch. females, and the pups going heavily to competition hunters, and they still only produce 1 of 8 to 10 titled dogs (10.00%-12.50%) in an era of 5-10 dog local hunts, it's hard to be impressed by the numbers.

That said, over the 35-40 years I've been hunting, "most" of the "absolute best" that I've hunted with have been from World Ch. bloodlines.
