Question about pup

So far my dog is about 9 months old and she has been running track decently but coming back on them. I don't think she has gotten on a real hot track in the woods yet but she has treed three or four coons from a cage. The last I turned loose and went back to the house, loaded her and took her out about 100 yards away from where I released it and cut her loose. She went straight to it and opened up on it. She ran it about 500 yards across the ridge down the other sideand it crossed the highway and she lost it. I didn't want her around the road so I brought her on in.
Seems like she casts around alot and hunts pretty good but she don't get very far away from me unless she's tracking. I have been walking her through the woods most of the time at least out to my feeder. I'm just wondering if she will grow out of that and start busting into the woods without me walking her. I think I'm going to be happy no matter what but I doubt if she stays like this I will be able to Enter her in any hunts when she is of age.
Thanks for reading!

Its hard to say what a pup will do or be in 6 months but I can tell u this the way your hunting her isnt helping in the situation in my opinion. Instead of walking her sit down and dont walk a step with her. IF she was treeing coons id say a dose of hickory would be best but since shes only treed coons u turned loose just sitting down is your best bet. I wouldnt turn any more coons out in front of her at all but if u cant resist your self I would make her at least go look for it maybe 250 yds or further down a logging road or something. Again this is just my opinion and what I would do. Good luck

I would sit down too and let her mill around without saying anything to her but if she kept coming to me for attention I would load her up and look for a hot track to cast her on once or twice to see if that would make her start looking down creeks and such for good tracks.

She hammered in and hunted pretty good tonight but she only went as far as my feeder. I'll start trying to stay still and let her do her thing if she will. I have been loading her in the box and trying to find a good hot track to get her on but haven't had much luck other than in a cornfield where she pushed one out into a culvert.

the more time she has in the woods the more confidence she will build
