Wonderful Pup Update
Back in Sept, I purchased a pup from Cody Dickerson in Livingston, TN. His female, Dickersons Lock Down Red Hot Raven had been bred to Rasputin. He only had two females left, of which both were blue. I selected the best looking of the two, and named her little Sadie. I began taking her with the older dog at about 5 months old. At about 5.5 months, she ran and treed her first possum by herself. My buddy timed her at 130 barks per minute. This little female has seen several coon with the old dog, albeit the coons in this area are very hard to tree this time of year, and are somewhat thin. Last nite, because the old dog is in heat, my buddy and I took Little Sadie and his 7 month old redtick male out for a while. We quickly treed a possum, got the dogs off of it, and headed them down onto one of the forks of Dale Hollow Lake. They hit a coon and treed it upon the side of the hill. When we got to the pups (and I might add that we always take our time because Sadie will not leave! a tree), we shined the tree and immediately found the coon. My buddy shot, and when he did, the coon found a hole in the side of the tree and was lost for the night. We were in some very rough terrain, but Sadie and his pup laid in there and treed the coon. Not too bad i dont reckon for 7 month old pups. We had to put the lead on her and lead her off of the tree. She is very independent, and a stay put tree dog!
This little dog has progressed very well for a 7 month old pup. She has never seen a caged coon, a drag, or been fooled with in any other manner other than just taking her to the woods and letting her use her natural bred instincts. If all of Rasputins pups are like Sadie, I'd have me another one tomorrow if I could find one.
I would highly recommend anyone to breed to Rasputin. If my dog is any indication at all, he sure is thowing some fine pups!
