Stationary Rule
I've never really read into learning this rule....Can someone please tell me what it really means and how many of you have ever taken chances of not treeing your dog covering another dog? Either knowing he's near that tree and as soon as you walk in, he's going to cover because he sees lights coming, or just by the way your hound is covering, you got a feeling that maybe ol Mr. Ringtail may have already flew the coop to a different tree
example-
DOG A strikes a track that's too hard for her to handle in a area of overgrown grapes and vines galore, your dog goes over and strikes in and works it. All of the sudden DOG C starts a short track, and pulls up treed. You can distinctively tell by the way your dog is barking that he is still tracking, but not far from DOG C treed. Maybe a locate here or there every little bit, but he never really gets into that sweet confident rhythm of a chop that you'd like. With DOG C's showing of work the previous two spots, theres a 50% chance that he's even got it right. Stationary rule hasn't been put on your DOG yet but someone could argue for it. He's just grubbing and checking
How many of you would take that chance and let DOG C's tree close and not tree yours with the possibility of your DOG going to be in there eventually treed. Whether he figures out the right tree, or really does cover DOG C on his tree. his treeing just wasn't enough to your likings for you to actually call him treed
What happened to me is this....
Dog C's tree closed and I never treed mine. As we were walking in, mine ended up treeing with him on the same tree. DOG C left the tree and came into us and mine stayed........... i was about 75% sure that it was empty and 100% pissed that he covered a track and tree like that, but hey it happens. So here we have my dog treeing on this tree and knowing him by the back of my hand, he would stay there until the cows came home. Judge puts the stationary tree on my dog, and I tree him. After 5mins of tree time closes, it ends up being empty as suspected since the beginning. But idk, i could smell coon and the grapes were thick. So he was somewhere in that mess
If DOG C stayed on this empty tree, my strike points would have been deleted?? And no penalty for tree?
Would anyone handling my dog handle it differently?
