One really has to ask his or herself one main question. Is this pup expendable or not. Is the pup replaceable or does it have future greatness in your mind at a very young age. Everyones opinion on what they believe to be a pup is different. For me,once a pup hits the age of 1 yrs old. It is considered a young hound and pup is out of the vocabulary. Some consider them to be pups until 2 years old. Some pups are very independant and some not so much. If your askin this ? you most know what's on the end of the lead. Just ask yourself the question above and answer in honestly and you'll come up with the right decision. How old is your pup. I have a young hound here and I made a decision with him earlier this year on not taking him to spring SS. He's now 13 months old. Over the years, I've started puttin them in hunts at 9 months old, now I look at it different. What ever the choice, good luck with it,Danny G.
