Kate #1...Pepper Ann #2.....Amber #46, it will be interesting to watch Amber climb on up the list. I love to see families of reproducers. Theoretically speaking the daughters of the top reproducers should surpass their mothers if we are doing our job right. Bell is #18, Raven and Bombers Red Wire are #3 and #10. Where is the female out of Raven or Bombers Red Wire????

sometimes

I think we need to look at % on some of the daughter mother comparisons, Just how many pups a dog has plays a big part in how the daughters may stack up against momma. If momma has 35 pups and daughter only 15 It's hard to compare.

Kelly, there are 2 separate lists but I am finding it hard to draw any conclusions without comparing the 2 of them together.

two list

2 lists 1 breed... I'm not sure there is a lot of new stuff to learn from the updated lists . I can see some puzzle pieces coming together when I look at each list. for example 4 of the top 10 males are fairly close relatives 3 of the other top 10 males are also closely related. and they all are related at some point. When we look at all the lists and try to pull out info. I see the same thing I noticed last time I ran them. There are strong family lines in the breed and they continue to prove their ability to reproduce. Richard you asked about watering down some of those lines. I think the fact is it takes a long time to prove on paper the ability of a reproducer, and in another 2 years we will see nothing was watered down. Stud dogs that get over 400 pups is getting very rare and we may never see numbers like we have in the past. But quality is getting better I think.

Hey Mark,
Was Kate as good or better than her moma? Did her moma reproduce great like her. Would like to know all I could about it. Everybody wants a Moonlight Kate.

Chicken Foot is from Sally 14, Sally is from Sweetie 23. Chick is being breed her first time. It will be nice to see a list in 2018 to compare again.

I'm not sure either.

John, I would do that but I would be afraid to list one as dead that is still alive..LOL
That's one reason I have the breeders listed as well as the owners. It give people a chance to know who to get ahold of to talk about the dog and also you can see who's kennel the dog originally came from. Those two pieces of info should get you what you need with just a phone call.

I agree here Im no breeder but number 2 on the list with 54 pups wow that sounds like alot of pups to me. How many litters did it take to make some of these numbers? I was guessing if you had 54 pups and averaged 9 a litter thatd be 6 litters. Somebody put alot of time in that and alot of time getting those pups to the right people. Like I say Im no breeder but this is very interesting stuff Thanks for posting both lists.

Great tool. Got me to thinking.

Consider this thought. Some people are succeful breeders/hunters and some are just successful hunters.
Consider this: Breeder crosses 2 very good dogs, then places those pups in the hands of good solid hunters. Good hunters work hard and take those pups to their potential and make them GRNTCh. Now those good hunters may not be inclined to do much breeding, they are hunters not breeders. So the potential of those GRNT pups to reproduce does not get recognised, so the breed looses here.
Just something I hadn't really thought of. We always think about getting the pups in the hands of good hunters, don't get me wrong, that is very very important. But how do we continue this on out? I myself am guilty of being a capable hunter, then not doing a bunch of breeding.
So for the breed to really prosper, the good hunters need to get those good dogs back in the hands of capable breeders at the age of 3 or 4.
Something to think about.
PS: I get attached to the real good ones, so this wouldn't be easy :-).

It sounds like the hunters need to team up with a good breeder and the good breeders need to team up with a good hunter. A good hunter needs a breeder to send him young dogs and a good breeder needs a hunter to send him finished hounds that are ready to breed. It is a win win cooperative effort.

I used to be a breeder, but I wasn't too good at that so I just became a hunter. Now that I have gotten too old, I am going to go back to being a breeder. I am going to have to find a couple more good hunters. I have one in David Linkous and I am trying out one in Wisconsin named Andy Abts. The only problem is keeping the good hunters motivated. When they get a dog that they can win with they want to hold on to them. They don't like starting over again.

Shady Lady just had another pup finish to NITECH, bumping her up to #12 on The List. What other top producing females have moved around in the last couple of months?

By my calculations calculations Jones Yellow river red chili makes a big move on the girls list from 25 to #2 with 10 great nt. And nt. Ch and 24 pups a 41.6% reproduction

Someone asked how many of the top ten females are products of line breeding Chili is about as line bred as you get and a total out cross onto Steve which is line bred. I don't breed for many litters but I am excited because some of these pups out of chili are being bred. Time will tell how they reproduce. My future breeding is crossing my Jesse female back onto P.K.C. C.H. Grand Nite C.H. Millcreek yellow river stone time will tell how they do
